Hi Martin555
Yes the South African Post Office is uplifting itself and now belongs to the Universal Postal Union. So any parcel can now be fully tracked from shop to post office and you can see all the steps in between with 17track👍👍

Only old in years not mind or soul.
Just heard from better half no mail being sorted in shutdown - SA PO's only open for pension payments - couriers very reluctant to deliver anything unless its medical , foodstuff etc.

Guys
If you are looking for International track and trace from any member of the Universal Postal Union use their website called 17 Track type in the Tracking Number and tells the whole story. I pay with Paypal and I have only had one shipment go missing. Got a Paypal refund!

Hi
Being a 1/14 Scale RC Trucker ( for my sins) I import quite a bit through RC Jaz, RC Mart, and Banggood (Operate out of HK), I find a lot of their electronics quite a bit cheaper. Don't know about now as the good old ZAR has had the backside of it. But speed controllers, motors, switching systems are cheap. I use Flyski Radios both in trucks and boats. Get those at R1100.00 Rand from Loukies Bait Boats in Steeldale. That's the FX6 I Computer 2.4G Radio complete! Easy to programme😀😀. I have a Hitec Optic Six but to convert it to 2.4Ghz costs a fortune Also battled to programme the thing, The above Hong Kong companies ship with track and trace. My stuff for my truck is at JMIC and won't go through Customs until we are out of lockdown☹️☹️☹️. Genuine boat fittings I buy via Cornwall Model Boats. By the way the above HK companies have different options but airmail tracked and signed for takes about 4 weeks but can easily be tracked via the Universal Postal System. Search for 17 Track for tracking you can trace things very easily. Good Luck

Ian, who do you get your stuff from in China? Are they China Mainland or Hong Kong?
Agree that with total lockdown that delivery suspect once here in SA.

Just received some bits I ordered from China on the 20th of Jan (70 days odd) These were from companies (which had to close 1 month for holidays) Bits I ordered from individuals still came in around 1 month.
Virus update NZ. We now have over 1000 confirmed and suspected cases and still only 1 death. About 13 in hospital, (3 critical). Many of these cases started from tourists coming off the cruise ship as it stopped in a number of places round NZ. It's now docked in Aust and causing a big problem there. Seems to have flattened off very slightly here, but we will see.
Stay safe guys.

Guys Chinese New Year finished on the 5th Feb but most companies start really going after the 15th I needed a Tamiya Hi-Torque motor urgently for an R/C Truck and was prepared to pay for expedited shipping. The SA Post Office is treating parcels that come into SA and quarantine for a couple of days as this bloody virus only has a life of five days outside a person. If you have a tracking number use 17 track ( Internet) very good to see where your goods are! Another recommendation is to pay via PayPal you can lodge a dispute if the stuff doesn't pitch👍👍

Hi Ed,
I'm not really worried about the items I have on order, they are only to top up my stock, and I can buy them in UK at slightly higher prices. I'm worried about the situation in general and how it could possibly affect our hobby as a whole if stocks to the UK wholesalers are not being delivered.

Hi Nerys, there has been a big delay in stuff coming from China in the new year, as there have been new Chinese holiday acts put in place. Anything coming from a company has pretty much had a delay of 1 month before shipping, but private sellers seem to have no delays, I'm still waiting for some pumps and electronics to come from early Jan, and they have only been shipped in recent days. Have received orders from mid Feb from individual sellers already!
Might be some effect from the virus but Chinese workers aren't going to tell the boss "I'm not coming in today" 😁

I understand, But I'm sure your package is on it's way!
I had ordered quite a few thinks from china.
And I got them all with in a months time!
Just be patient you'll get yours!
Cheers, Ed
It's only this last few days that we have been told about slow down in trade and associated difficulties, I'm thinking of what is happening at the moment and will happen into the future if the virus situation is ongoing. If nobody is at work, to me, that means nothing is being made or sent out. Hope I'm wrong.

Hi Nerys,
I've been ordering from China.
With no problems what so ever!
I too thought there might be a delay.
But, There wasn't any at all!
At least with my orders.
I had no problems!
Cheers, Ed
Hi Greetings from SA. I have just imported stuff from Hong Kong No Problem 14 Days delivery
Only old in years not mind or soul.
On a very serious note, I hate to mention a subject like coronavirus on here but I do wonder if it will affect supplies of the multitude of electronic bits and pieces we need for our hobby that are made in China and are imported by the model wholesalers in bulk. On a smaller, more personal note, I have some receivers on order, anticipated delivery mid to end of March, will I get them when expected or will there be a long delay?
Cheers, Nerys
