Mike, remember that you've got to get your boat in and out of the water. You might want to think about some lifting straps that will help you launch and retrieve it. 9.9 kilos is not light when you are on your hands and knees at the lakeside. I couldn't do it safely without mine.

Finally got round to weighing the boat, however when talking about a ladies weight you have to be very careful.
Last reported at 8.3 kg but we were suspicious of this because we knew that Robs boat weighed in at 8.4kg. But during my build I had added a number of brass fittings including a brass bow piece and additional pumps and removable cockpit section etc. etc.
So I assume you all know what a bag of sugar looks like and weighs in at 2kg well its not that bad, 1.6kg making a total of 9.9kg. Not sure weight watchers is going to help but it still floats near the water-line and the power plant should be able to handle things.
We will have to wait until we return to normal.

Hopefully the lockdown will be relaxed soon and you will be able to get out of the house for a while.
Until then both of you stay safe.

Hi Rob, I was also surprised so I intend to use my suitcase scales when I can get out to get them, unfortunately both my wife and myself are on the government 12 week self isolation list.

If it's of any use to you Mike, my 40" seaplane tender with twin everything (incl 2 2200mAh LiPos, pumps, smoker system etc) weighs around 4kg all up, and with the twin 540 45t brushed motors running on 8v, has the performance seen in the vid on p6 of the media files. Not a racing boat, but reasonably scale speed. I think yours will put up a good scale like wash with that weight, but you probably have another 55-60 sq in of planing area more than mine, plus more power to help get her up.

Hi Mike.
I'm a little surprised that yours weighs in at less than mine given all of the additional metalwork and detailing on your boat. Could it be that our respective scales are inaccurate or perhaps there's a gravitational anomaly involved?🤔. I have also got some lead ballast in a forward compartment on one side to trim her. Still, on balance they're fairly close.😉 I hope you get a proper maiden voyage soon, using it just to empty the bath seems an awful waste of all your efforts 😂.

If this lockdown continues much longer you will have to purchase a much larger bath LOL!

Rooster tails up the wall is not good LOL!

Rob thanks for that, I also got the scales out and surprisingly it weighed in at 8.3 kg. I also have the same batteries and a similar spec motor. The reason I ask is that today it went for a bath 😀 and I had thought that with all the brass additions I have put on I might be way over weight. I had spent some time thinking of what I could thin down or drill holes in or do without. however it did float and it just covered the waterline at the stern and slightly higher at the bow, so I may try to move a the smoker battery forward to even it out (after all there's no rush for the maiden voyage)
All other things worked OK, but couldn't prove the water cooling as at only half throttle it started to empty the bath and fill the rear deck.
So all in all pleased and relieved

Hi Mike.
The all-up weight of my 46" Crash tender is 8.4Kg and that includes the batteries.
The batteries ( 2 x 9.6v NiMh in series) alone weigh 1.17Kg.
So with a Turnigy 4250 500KV motor driving a 50mm 2 blade prop the boat gets up on a plane with no difficulty at all despite being a heavy old girl.

Hi Mike.
That's a good question.
I did weigh mine once but I don't recall the figure.
I'll dig out the luggage scales and let you know.

46" Crash Tender weight

Hi,
I don't know the weight of a 46" crash tender but I think with a planing boat you want to keep it as light as possible, unlike a displacement hull which needs a specific weight to float to its intended waterline. With the few sports type boats I have done with hard chine hulls, I have always taken the view that the waterline is irrelevant when the boat is moving at speed but extraneous weight is to be avoided.
This is my opinion - but I may be completely wrong!

Does anybody know the expected weight of a 46" crash tender?
