Hi Robbob

Thank you for the info, I have used the new link and now all fixed just need to start working out how it works.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

Hi Fred.
Hmmm...
The download link on the VeeCad site may be broken.
Try this alternative link: http://veecad.com/downloadfree.zip OR right click on the download link on the website link and choose "open link in new window". that sometimes works too.

Hi Fred.
Here's a 'photo of the distribution board I made for all of the LED lighting on my Pilot Boat project.
It uses 'Veroboard' copper strip board as you describe and was designed using a free bit of software called 'VeeCad' which makes the design and layout of the board quite simple.

Hi Ian
I think that Deans are the Marmite of the model boat world, Myself I have had more Deans than any other manufacturer so that would put me in the like group.
As for MMM I kept onto Brian to make the Lady "T" and I have the first one out of the mould, I have all the fittings, just have get myself motivated to start the build.

Good luck with your build and please do some form of a build log.

If you think Slipway was bad you haven't touched a Deans kit! I have just got down from the ceiling a Mobile Marine Models Euro Girl which is going to be a " Guess what to do next" kit!

Hi Ian

I was lucky to get this kit, a guy on the Slipway's Facebook page put his up for sale mid 2020,
A late member of the club had his on the water that day, I liked the look of it, so I came home and paid the price that was being asked. I must say that I got my first Slipway kit back in 1996 and after spending some 23 years building it I said I would neve make another slipway kit

I would just like to thank you all for your contributions to my question,

I will now start working on the layout drawings for the location of the LED's to go into my AZIZ.

Hi Fred
You are lucky to have a Slipways kit Now closed ( hope somebody buys the moulds. Not Deans!) I also have used Action electronics stuff (P94) 👍 and I find Component shop pretty good.

Hi Fred,
Mobile Marine Models do a 20 LED set for a tug complete with resistors etc. Might be expensive but possibly worth it.
Good Luck in your endeavours

Hi Ian

Thank you for the link, I have been using Component for some time now, I still have an ESC from the day's when it was Action in one of my boats.
In the manual from Slipways it shows a total of ten mast lights made up of seven white two red and one yellow, along with all the deck lights and wheelhouse lights.

I am thinking of using smd's for the wheelhouse and most of the deck lights as for the two mast I will try and use brass so that I can make them an earth point for the lights, then I will only have to run the live through them.

I still have a lot of planning to do before I start having to wire them up.

Hi Fred,
Welcome to the 'black art' of LED's. With so many variations out there here's a link to the component shop UK's website he has an article on LED's.
As it is a tug how many LED's do you want to fit? If you look at the 'new' regulations for tugs and can consist of 20 LEDs
Good Luck

Hi Fred,

Yes, that’s exactly like I would do it. One end of all the resistors connected together on one track. The other end of the resistors separately connected to each LED. So remove part of the strip between the resistors at that end.

L.E.D Resistor

Hi One and All
In the past I have just fitted LED's as Port and Starboard lights that has been O.K as I have only needed two resistors, as I am thinking of starting my next lockdown project a Slipways "AZIZ" I would like to fit more LED's to this one, so I was thinking (not a good thing) if I got some circuit board and made a board of resistors, one copper strip would be the power end so that would be a continues, and one end of the resistor would be soldered to it, now would I have to remove the part of the copper strip that is between the ends of the resistor that go to the LED's?

Thanks for any help you can offer
