Boat Clubs and Lakes

Thank you Ken, Vale of Glamorgan MBC, for posting in the Boat Clubs and Lakes section, a nice comprehensive resume of the club, where and when you sail, details about the lake and extending an invitation to visitors. This is an excellent example of what I would like to see, someone from every club listed to take the trouble to let us know a little about your club. The list could become very useful to many newcomers to our hobby. Well done Ken.

Cheers, Nerys

Hi
I have just had a look at our club's info and all looks O.K.
We do hope to be back sailing again on the 20th May 2021🤞 from 10.00am. this is due to our lake being in the the grands of the Swiss Cottage Public House Shoreham by the sea Sussex.

That's all right, Mr Ryan. My Morse is so rusty, I could be sending him dimensions on Playmate of the Month.

What I would like to see is an updated Boat Club and Lakes site, with current information about each club and being used as a talking shop for members to tell us about what is going on in their clubs.

Hi Dave,
At the moment we are looking for Moderators to help in maintaining the site for it members.

There is currently 164 clubs/lakes listed by members.
So it would take quite some time to get through them all.
That is why i have asked for the members help in updating them.

If it looks right it probably is.

Boat Clubs and Lakes

Hi Martin
Could not the Moderators check each link and if unable to contact the club or original poster remove the link? I suspect many were not posted by the Club but a member and it's possible the Club is not aware their details are being shared on this site. I agree if members were to check their local sites and report problems this would speed up the process.

Hi Dave,
That is a valid comment.
What i was trying to say (Badly) was that The Boat Club and Lake section need to be reviewed by the members that posted there clubs on it.

It seems there are a few clubs that no longer exist so therefor will need to be removed.

So if members could look at this i would appreciate it and if you like you can contact me and i will see about removing them for you..

Clubs update their websites and facebook pages on a regular basis so I don't agree the section is not active. Also they do not share contact details without some form of check against bots. Perhaps it is not in the Forum section for a reason.

I'm pleased you agree with me Martin. I know many of the clubs have good websites, but I still think it would be useful for us to have basic information on the pages. I note that many have had no posts in eight years and I know of three clubs listed who are no longer in existence. It really would be nice to see this section becoming active and bringing itself up to date with the help of members.

cheers, Nerys

I think you are right Nerys,
It would be good if the posts in the 'Boat Clubs & Lakes' section is updated with up to date information.

Most of the Clubs have websites or facebook pages and there is a link on the club details page. Click on this and you can find all the info you require.

Boat Clubs and Lakes

I was looking at the list of Boat Clubs and Lakes and thought how much better it would be if there was some information about the club included on the page. It was obvious that nobody ever took any notice of these pages, many had never had a post in eight years and some I know are no longer in existence, but if somebody would supply some information, the address of the club or lake, contact details, when sailing took place there, whether visitors were welcome and possibly details of parking or nearby cafes. It wouldn't take long to post these details and it would be a lot of benefit to a newcomer looking for a venue to sail, or even someone on holiday and wanting a sail whilst they away.

Cheers, Nerys
