Heellllp!!!

Hi Ventodimare,
Firstly welcome to the site.

To help you we need a few more photos.
It would be good if we could see the actual plan/drawing and then we could work out if the deck is lower at that point.

Then it might be a case if measuring the cutouts and a bit of tweaking to get the correct fit.

EDIT.
After a quick look around i found a few pictures and it looks like you will need to do a bit of tinkering to get the correct fit.

Hello everyone,
new to boat building. I'm dry fitting the bulkheads & the keel of an Amati Mayflower.
All the pieces fit perfectly but the photo in attach to this post shows "space" between the bulkhead and the keel (ref. red rectangle). These 2 particular pieces don't lock in completely. All the others do.
Are the pieces not well built?
Am I missing something?
Thank you

He may not be overpowering it (yet), but the darn thing is a bonafide antique, and until yesterday the only powerboat he owns...I traded my Acapulco to him. I need the room, he needs another boat so we can do a refit on Miss Kitty. I suspect that we might be seeing the upper end of what the ‘Pulco can handle pretty soon.😁

I think that I'll work on hydrodynamic trim. If I'm running a planing hull I spend by far most of my time on-plane. Not normally full tilt but a fast planing speed. I do agree with your suggestion of ballasting to a proper static attitude first, then trimming for planing attitude. If anything, I'd re-prop for a little more speed. 😀 This hull is quite well behaved and I feel that I am far from overpowering it at this point. Okay, okay... I don't have a need to to faster, but if I were to change anything that is the direction that I would go. 😊

Hi Jp.

I would be tempted to ballast the boat to the correct water level and use a slower motor or maybe experiment with motor and propeller combinations.
I am not sure if you like zooming boats around or you prefer more scale speeds, but if you are thinking of trim tabs i think you may be partuial to a bit of speed.

For running trim I have tried adding weight forward. On a normal day I bring two battery packs (3s 1400 LiPo). One goes in the radio bay and supplies power while the other goes in the bow to supply trim weight. Yes, this does help bring the bow down. I have tried different weights (3s 2200, 3s 1400, 3s 850) and no ballast. Lots of forward ballast does lower the bow a bit but she still runs a bit high and when static floats with the bow obviously low. This hull does have a bit of curve all the way back to the transom that pulls the stern down fairly strongly. Only two ways that I can figure to correct this trend. One is to reshape the hull (doable but not practical) and the other is to add trim tabs.

One of these days........... 😀

Hi JB,
"a SMALL commission" JB!? Not worth getting out of bed for! 😉😴

"is the UK considered still part of Europe"
Geographically? - Yes. Politically? - NO! 🤔
I'm still entitled to stay here, under the terms of the Withdrawal Agreement, but BREXIT is still causing me agro, time and cost, with German authorities re 'Change of Status Registration' and exchange of driving license!! Grrrrr!😠
Think I'll send the bills to Number 10 😁
I also note that many of my favourite UK suppliers now warn of import tax / duties on deliveries to EU countries, or have simply stopped delivering to us. 😭
I hope Component Shop quickly finds a European agent!!!!
Yours aggravated,
Doug 😎

Aha! At last we know the identity of the Master Trader JP!😀
Welcome aboard shipmate👍 Out of the shadows at last!
Re "she runs with the bow pretty high."
Before you get into the complications of fitting trim tabs why not try simply shifting some weight a little further forrad? 😉
Now that you're aboard how about posting your fleet (Cash's cast-offs or whatever😁) in your Harbour?

Nice find. Crowdsourcing a search like this can work wonders. Now... if we can smuggle these hulls out of the EU. Miss Kitty II is a great running boat, about the only issue I have with it is that when on-plane she runs with the bow pretty high. I keep talking about trying to put some trim plates on her, one of these days it may happen.

As Cash said, I have run her a LOT over the last couple years and she's getting pretty ragged. Time to visit the dry dock and have a good going over.

You guys are good👍👍
Now, if we decide to get a couple of hulls we might have to find an “exporter” 😁

Thanks y’all!!

Shucks, beat me to it JB 😉
Well I guess you guys wake up an 'hour or two' before us!😁
Lextek has a good range of hulls for vintage Robbe & Graupner kits; cutters, tugs etc etc, and a lot of other useful 'stuff'.
Including crew figures to match-

They don't seem to deliver outside Europe though 🤔

Hi y’all. My buddy, JP, has an old Graupner Kitty II that I got in a trade, fixed up then traded it to him, and he then added brushless power and has ran the fire out of it for 2 years straight. Anyway, about a year or so ago I found a link to a gentleman in Germany who was making new Kitty hulls from abs. I have lost the link. If anybody out there knows of this persons business, or if he’s even still making hulls, please holler at me. I’ve googled the #@!! out of every permutation of “Kitty II”, and no luck.
