Due to illness I have had to put my larger projects on hold (to much for me to move around at the moment because of the size) so I am working on returning this HSL to how she looked (in real life) when she first came into service. I got her in the grey, she needed a bit of TLC electrically and mechanically and of course repainting but almost there.
Put her on the water for the first time last week sadly no picks as camera conked out , But the boat run beautifully , just a few bits of work on the deck house an decals to do
I just found out that HSL128 originally had a red and white checked box on the bow across the deck, so some remedial work to be done. so it should look like this,
RonB the yellow really hi-lites your many radio antennas. Thankyou for the trip down Memory Lane!! At one time I was a federal Radio Inspector of ships on our Great Lakes. While the 162MHz MARINE band was adequate for anywhere on our Canadian GREAT LAKES (shared with USA) we often inspected "salties" that had the full span of VLF, LF, MF, & HF antennas. These were mandated by SOLAS (SAFETY OF LIFE AT SEA) regulations that came out of the enquiry into the Titanic disaster.
