The club was formed in 1978, when several model boaters, who used the marine lake at Southport, thought it would be a good idea.

Here we are 30 years later and going from strength to strength.

We meet on a Sunday morning and Wednesday from 12noon



In 2003 we moved to a new purpose built pond - "Jubilee Pond" as it was built during the clubs Silver Jubilee.

That looks good fun, a bucket full of ducks 😁

28th September.

By the time I arrived on Sunday at 11 am (ish) the sun was coming out and it became quite a nice day….but almost everyone had gone home for their Sunday lunch!

Sorry I missed the steam boat, that was going really well, and I didn’t get to see the pusher tug and barge either (that looked really nice).

With help from my wife I set about testing various propeller sizes on my Sea Commander and learnt some more about the torque induced nose-diving action that it displays when turning RIGHT into choppy water.

As a Southport club member, it is also nice for me to see some of the boats sailing on our club lake.

Most of them have already gone home by the time that I arrive sometime after 11am on a Sunday morning.

They probably don't want to be late for their traditional Sunday roast dinner 🤣
