Hi - Im running 2 motors via 2 x esc with one supplying power to RX. Was thinking of using a cheap small 3w amplifier for engine sounds and by accident realised the unused battery input on the Rx seems to have a 5v supply when all is running. Is this normal and could it be used to power the amplfier ? Tx for any advice.

As a very average model maker who just enjoys the hobby and found loads of useful information and helpful people on the site I must say I have been quiet amused by some concerns over "demotions ". May I add RNinMunichs earlier post sums up exactly what the site should really be about, Well said. None of us embrace change easily but I am finding my way around the site and I am sure in a couple of months time we will wonder what all the fuss was about.
Yes ! I even I got demoted but I dont care if I get classed as the ships cat as long as I find the help I need.
Regards Alan

Gary - have now got some details it would seem the description for the pic on the IWM website is incorrect as it describes it as a Tid tug - hence my searches were revealing nothing also now EMP makes sense - will start looking for suitable drawings plans etc - Tx Alan

Was looking for a new project and came upon this pic of what looks possibly to be a WW2 Tid Tug - Armed ? No expert on web searching but seem to draw blanks as only I.D is the nameplate EMP.PAUL. Any sort of help gratefully received. Tx

Hi - Have a couple of days in Hong Kong early December and thinking of treating myself to a Christmas Present. Can anybody recommend any Model Shops that have a good selection of boats and if the prices are actually cheaper than in UK. Not sure what I fancy yet but plastic kits to convert to RC or any form of boat kit that is RC compatible. Where to find other items Radios / ESCs etc would be appreciated.

Tx Doug - Looks like another piece of kit to put on the shopping list. Previously had just used a charger from Component Shop and when the lights stopped "blinking" to me that was it. Nothing is ever that simple π

Tx for the info Haverlock - Watt Meter- this is new to me, would this be to check the current drawn off load on the bench etc. I had seen "voltage bleepers" to fit in the boat but again i assume they are not the same. Back to researching

Tx for the advice Mark - had been researching and your views seem to back this up - edging towards 2 x 11.1v lipo in parallel 2200mah or slightly bigger dependant on budget. which will be removable. May i ask what "C" rating you would suggest.
Not sure my skllls warrant a pic build yet as my 2 previous builds were just modified plastic kits, basically copies of other peoples builds online, not just as testing as this seems to be.

First attempt at a full scratch build, a 32" Downeast / Lobster boat style hull in ply, to be built to my own design as a picnic / fun boat. Have acquired an MFA Torpedo 500 and a 40mm 4 blade Raboesch prop, 175 series I think. Hoping to run direct drive. Any advice on battery size voltage and Mah to get a turn of speed if required and a reasonable run time. Lipo preferably as I have a 2/3 cell charger from a previous project and limited space only in front third of hull. TX for any advice received
