International Model Boat Show by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 11 days ago
The model engineers show at Alexander Palace used to have smaller boat model accessories on sale Items always worth buying to keep in stock Unfortunately the last three years these excellent traders no longer are there..Internet buying is good but I like to see the items in front of me

Varnish by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 29 days ago
A big thanks to all of you for your advice regarding the finish on the Riva boat I,m building. The wet n dry treatment is amazing so it will be used after each coat of the barque varnish.

Boat chit chat by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 1 month ago
Thanks guys for your assistance. The motor was in sealed bag when it arrived. My electronic wizard who wires up my boats connected the motor as per usual and it was dead I phoned Howes and they found my order as it was recent and the total was £130.30 They said return the motor for testing. My grivience is that they should trust me an old customer and send another motor whilst I post their one back.

Boat chit chat by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 1 month ago
Has anyone bought a speed 600 motor from Howes lately. I have. Brand new and the motor is seized up.

Boat show Spain by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 1 month ago
Here at Castellon Spain for boat show. Well attended here and show has around 8 sponsors including large DIY firm Leroy Merlin. We should have model boat suppliers support us in England. Quality of boats very good and well attended

Speed 600 motor by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 2 months ago
Just unwrapped Speed 600 motor from Howes for my boat. It's dead as a dodo.Phoned Howes was told post it back for testing. As my bill for parts from them was £130 you would think they would send me a motor and I would post the duff one to them. It's all time as I'm in spain.

Riva boat by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 3 months ago
Taking time building this Chris Craft Riva boat from scrap plywood but fun and a lot cheaper than buying a complete kit. Have just finished the hull and giving so far four coats of varnish. It's about 31inches long so thats some boat. Howes have supplied all the fittings and I am pleased they post here to me in Spain. Next step is to find some small dials to put on the dashboard to add some Glitz!!.

The Sophia is a Chris Craft Riva that I am building from scratch using scrap plywood.

Chris Craft Riva Building a Chris craft Riva from scratch seemed a good idea.. I use three ply scrap wood costing three euros fifty cents so far.But I have in stock rolls of two inch wide veneer which I wrap around the stringers. So far it's three thicknesses thick which I feel is enough. Next stage is a hard sanding then a varnish before the 100 and things to do to it. Any comments appreciated and ideas. Alan

Proceedings so far by Alan999 Lieutenant   Posted: 5 months ago
Thanks Wayne. That will help me a lot with filling in the interior of the Rica. What I have picked up are about ten one inch model China teddy bears playing instruments who will sit in the Rica. If you blow up my profile picture you will see figures and a bar on board. It gives my boats character and the Spainiards here love them. Buenos dias Alan
