Stunning model! What more can I say, superb. No doubt I will be pestering you with more ifs, what's and why's if that's o.k.
I am a member of Derby model boat club,we have a membership of around 45,but like most clubs it;s the same 10-15 of us who sail each weekend. We do all get together for socials and regatta days and venetian night in September.
Do you get to many of the shows? Three of us from Derby usually go to Ellesmere,Doncaster,Warwick and a weekend at Blackpool show. Not been to Haydock yet but hope to make it this year.
Regards Andy

Thanks for your response.I agree Deans are not the best quality kits and the destructions are vague to say the least.Pity anyone who chooses a Deans as a first venture into boat building it could put them off for life!
When we had a problem with a part of the MTB 77 instructions a call to Ron Dean bought the reply ,ignore that bit, those plans apply to several boats!
Having said that I would not hesitate to purchase a Deans kit in future as I am confident that I can overcome any problems that may arise with the help of good people like youself and the experience already gained. In any case if it was easy it would'nt be worth doing in my opinion.
Thanks again Andy.

Yes I see it now you point it out.I can only Imagine that it looks even better in reality. My knowledge of these boats is zilch,A fellow club member picked up a vac formed hull and superstructure at Ellesmere show bring and buy for Aยฃ35 and asked if I would have a go at building it for him.I am sure you fireboat officianados would be horrified at the attempt I am making and no doubt there will be a lot of things incorrect by the time I have done. But hey-ho,I'll put it down to "modellers licence" as My mate is looking for a "representation" of a fireboat.
What it has done however ,is generate a genuine liking for these type of craft,Fireboats,Crash tenders etc. so when I have got through my current projects will look seriously into getting one and doing it properly. Can you reccomend a commercially available kit, either 1/24 0r 1/32.
I have been building for a few years now and my build list so far include Deams Marine MGB 77,many M S kits, nameley Tsekoa,Al Khubar,Envoy,Dutch Courage ,Our lass,Maggie M.My first build was a Robbe Antje followed by a Cap Maquettes SNS 2000 wooden kit.So you see my boat interests are many and varied.Andy

Thanks for your reply.I did'nt realise the superstructure and deck differed in colour. Is there a vast difference in the shading between the primer grey and RAF blue 96.I like the idea of using Burgundy as I was a little concerned the reds I had seen in various pictures appeared a bit garish to say the least.Iusually use Halfords cans so generally have plenty of Appliance white in stock!
Thanks for your reply. Andy (BALDERS)

A mate picked up a vac formed fireboat hull and deck moulding at Ellesmere show bring and buy.I am building It for him and It Is progressing very nicely.I have no knowledge of fireboats and have found out most of what I need from t'internet as the mouldings only came with two colour pictures and a few bits of Info. gleaned from other sources.
Can someone please tell me the correct colour scheme please.e roof sections are
Below the waterline Is a shade of red.Is there a paricular shade? then black above the waterline divided by a white line. The roof sections I can see are white.
What I really need to know Is the correct shade of grey, which appears a blue grey and It seems to me the correct shade will make or break the model.
I will try and upload pics of what I have with dimensions over the weekend as I will need lots of advice re.fittings etc.
thanks for looking,
Andy (Balders)

HI to you all,
I have just arrived on this great website as a result of a Google search for Fireboat colour scheme.I must confess I have never seen this site mentioned anywhere else and was pleasantly surprised to find your little corner of the web.
No doubt In the course of time as I find my way around the site I expect I will see some members names that I recognise from the other boating websites.
To the people who take the time and trouble to maintain this site, thanks for the work you do to enhance this great hobby of ours.
I am off to post my question In the appropriate section now.
Regards Andy
