Hi Les, had same problem with mine put the back down and model floats higher in water , ended up drilling two 6 mm holes in bottom of door and again two 6 mm holes in bulkhead of door close to deck level near hull to deck join solved problem as lets water in and air out, also use nylon snake on aircraft retract servo , needs servo slower fitting as when it goes down it slows the boat like an air brake . The push out mech as graupner intended but where the end pushes vegasak out had to triangulate with bit of brass rod soldered across to stiffen to stop vegasak shaking its way off also adds to smother recovery . Did display 2016 or 17 at Warwick show several times model was and still is being refitted. Have seen a trolly system working and seems the answer , until you try it of course . Good luck with refit . When working as it should its a real buzz as friend can drive Vegasak , not as easy as it looks , trust me .

YOU can do it, think of pleasure with those fire monitors working and spinning on spot with engines , 1 ahead , 1 astern monitors going , just like real thing and proudly think to yourself I did that, go for it. Suggest taking picks before striping anything out and drawings and notes have done a few of those both models and big boats , if in doubt stop have a cuppa and look at the problem solves it most times and you have tapped into so many of us on this site one of us must have had that problem and will have a fix, do not be afraid to seek help, if you dont know, its not a stupid question, good luck Stephen.

I get the grease warm by sitting in bowel of hot water, then use a large syringe , if you take grease from edges on tin it thins well enough, then inject into stern tube then put in shaft to push up tube , depends on how hot grease is as to how well syringe work , good luck.

Love it, recycling at its most creative , not only boat but figures, gun and fittings all would have gone in landfill. Very well done indeed creative regards Stephen.๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

Hi , in the big boat world i have successfully used on Perspex and canopy flexible windows Starbrites Clear plastic scratch remover on Amazon at about ยฃ22 for parts one and two works well and lasts , not cheapest option, also have had limited success with Solvol autosol and liquid brasso on cotton wool. Hi jbkiwi, you have done a wonderful job of restoring the model to running order. The plans from MAP originally, she is not a broads cruiser ,but i can see why it was thought to be, but a 40FT Starcraft built in the late 50's early 60's by W Bates and sons on the river Thames at Chertsey in surrey.
Fairacre is one of a range of boats built post war by company from 20 ft inc 25 ft, 29, 30, 33, two 35's 40ft narrow and wide transom models and 7or 8 45ft models some with flybridge some without, the last wooden boat they built only one of , the 47ft Sea star finished in 1976 i seem to remember. There is currently a Star Craft owners club with a good range of the boats in it and have regular meets on the Thames. I worked for the company first on hire fleet in 70's as Saturday lad whilst at school then after a year at Falmoth tech went to work for them full time until august 78 and worked on refurbishing in the paint shop and craning and sliping them to be worked on, sorry to ramble but very happy times for me

Hi , have not gone wrong so far with products from becc very good range of vinyl letters 2 to 25 mm high , if they cannot help in style or size you need a graphics company they do sign writing on van and boats . My local company did a super job of transom names for 1/12 scale Arun class lifeboat in gold with black shading was not cheap but it added that touch of realism to transom. The company is called TT graphics in Addlestone , surrey, and www.becc.co.uk , ps pays to ask if you do not see what you need in there advertising, maybe they have not thought about what you need.

With some ESC's i note that if you are quick off the mark after switching on Tx, RX the ESC can still be in set up mode , so i adopted the switch on Tx Switch on Rx and count to ten policy years ago seems to have worked over many years. Found useful more so 2.4 sets if lots of sets in use as they seem to take a few seconds to find a frequency , and having a smart phone go into search mode very near, 1 metre is not helpful, depends on make. Brushless speed controller , start in middle pos for throttle stick dos motor start and run if so throttle to full reverse and return to midpint i have a couple that have that issue as all our rc is aeroplane based on throttle stick being idle at bottom , full at top marine speed controller or car has fwds and back reciever gets confuesed is it a boat, is it a plane hope this helps going forward.

Hi, when you first switch on Tx first thenRx you should see red and green flashing leds this is set up mode. put Tx stick in middle of travel then switch on as Rx lights flash, press set up button [ bottom right ]lights will change push stick all the way forward then slowly all the way back to other end of movement [ full astern ] then return to neutral when solid red and green lights should appear this is neutral no sound , just silence and red and green light, took me a couple of try's to get it right. Switch of Rx first then Tx . when switching on next time Tx first then Rx WAIT for lights to stop flashing on ESC thereby using saved settings, hope this helps.

Built for 25 show at Ramsgate for Vikings club about 2011, Scratch built from circular ply base with bilge keels and 800 torpedo on shaft with single rudder, 12 v 7 amp gel battery powers all. 3 x 2" rings cut from poly foam glued together with foaming PU glue and brushed on inside to seal all outside covered in white acrylic sealer to look like icing , the wife suggested a girl to pop out hence Disney mermaid from Tescos, For the first outing the hatch had a Viking ship model fitted, after deliberation that was removed and another tier added with lighting candles, also fitted with 12 v washer pump and four jets, ALWAYS gets em smiling. Cannot find pics will take new and post soonest.

Built from two pics taken of a derelict not five miles from home been beached for 20+years never seen it move , that was basis for finished model. 385 motor belt driving prop with plastic pulleys using Mamod steam drive spring band thingy, have had one in similer sized puffer for 15 years works well, 10 amp Mtronicks , 2.4 reciever 8 x AAA cells made up power pack, flashing light and nav lights all work . mostly made from balsa and ply , whole w/house made from card, and yes the seated man is playing with his yo-yo.

Model slipway Maggie m , bought at club night did not realize how much was missing [ hence name ]deck had started to come off due to no beam shelf been fitted so job 1 peel foredeck back fit bow thruster, fit beam shelf forward and aft stiffen deck hull join with sikaflex and square balsa section, glue fordeck on. Decided Maggie M out of question so survey vessel plan, container on aft deck =control room for drogues one on chocks other coming out of box. Made funnels from plascard almost like the kit, moved Hiab, added men, dingy, fenders and bulbus bow, over 4 kgs lead in bottom extended rudder stock and tube by 50mm to stop ingress of water oiler on prop shaft, raided bits box for people and many other bits

HI, i believe Metcalf mouldings have not long released a kit of the Liverpool class, you may be aware they did two distinct types, single or twin screw, the single screw ones had mast sails and drop plates if that was the early single screw boats or all i cannot say. Are you aware of the lifeboat enthusiast's ? join up at www.lifeboatenthusiasts.com, 4 comics a year and more info about past and present boats than you can shake a model boat at, regards Deepriverman

Bought as a bear wooden hull with drive through front bottom of hull for a ยฃ10, whilst waiting to pay gentleman asked if i new what i had , replied something that needs research, he identified it as a logging tug and had set of plans he did not want and kindly sent to me from which i did justice to hull. The drive motor is geared 5-1 and the drive is steerable, very interesting to drive looks good on water.

Built 1997 from Wyrelight kit [pre dave metcalf ] has had many minor refits, to various parts over years went to france twice, been to warwick last 15 years always on pond. A very sedate model with no fuss or bother to use , props in tunnels lead to interesting handling we but always predictable after the first 6-7 shows we reached an understanding. She has been most reliable and not missed a turn ,except when forced change of transmitter [ my fault ] loss of control resulted ,tracked down after show to dry solder joint in batt box in transmitter , cannot blame boat for that.

Based on swm hull believed built 1994, has been through a couple of owners i purchased 1999. Repowered with MFA 850's with g/box's. Did meet builder 2004. Model was on display in my Chandlery from 2000 till closing down 2019 at penton hook marina, has done a few shows and been out to france twice, once for show and second time for a rally on the canal d' Nivernias at Auxerre fun operating with full size craft on river/canal conditions. The wheelhouse is fully detailed down to working radar screen / scanner, nav and deck lights and flashing blue.
