I've seen it modeled either with yellow deck or grey deck but have seen no colour photos of the original

After replacing broken and weak deck supports the old deck was refitted. The old aft section was unusable and was replaced with styrene sheet of equivalent thickness and a new rudder access fashioned with bass wood. The original cabin behind the wheelhouse was modified to match the full sized vessel ie slopping sides not vertical and the rear cabin construction begins.
The totally new rear cabin was built using styrene sheet and bass wood using an A4 drawing and upscaling with reference to photos sourced from the internet.
Adhesives are very important during this stage to fix the bass wood to styrene first roughen the styrene and apply a good quality epoxy resin and styrene to styrene joints were made with liquid poly very sparingly.
Meanwhile in between the construction ALL old paint is removed and gaps filled. After having loads of problems with my last refurb project with paints being incompatible I make a point of stripping every bit of paint unless I am sure exactly what type it is.

I have aquired 2 x 6" prop shafts with 12" inserts plus 'P' Posts and after a little measuring and guess work ive finally have them fitted and aligned. The use of a guide is esential to have the props even though ideally id have an external and internal guide for that, time will tell if just using one was prudent or not. the props were sourced from a model not yet built but were ideal for this project I believe I have put them in correctly ie direction of rotation etc haha ???

Not sure if this was built from a kit but a very similar model is held in the Imperial War Museum. The model was in a poor state of repair when purchased and i decided to totally refurbish. it was fitted with a single prop and looked like it was powered by an internal combustion engine of some sort though now long gone. After a little research I decided I would fit it out as was the full size version with twin props and rudders.
The initial pictures show the model stripped down to solid foundations with previous repairs and equipment removed. The aft deck was removed at a later stage as the adhesive was found to be soft and the supports inadequate and too flexible. The only colour photos of the original are black and white, while fairly confident that the hull would be the standard Black and red the deck and superstructure are not so certain the deck and roofs i think will be yellow and the walls light grey but this may change if i can find any more info. I have a total blank on the open bridge layout and will have to guess unless anyone can help with more detail.

This is my newest project an Ebay buy of a delapidated HSL possibly used to advertise Model boat insurance at some time maybe 50 years old !. I have removed all broken, out of scale and incorrect items, removed old repairs and internal engine mounts. Superstructure is not too accurate but good enough to keep. I have noticed the keel is slightly twisted so will have to try and rectify that and the rear deck is going to be removed also as the adhesive is soft and pliable and there is no rigidity in the build aft of the superstructure. I intend fitting 2 x 12v johnson 600 type brushed motors as the original had 2 props. I have plenty of photos of the external layout but lack any detail of the open bridge ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ . I think this will be a difficult project to complete hope I do it justice

Im using the brushed electric motor that was already inside unfortunately I have no idea what it is. I hope to have it on the water this weekend to trial.
Basic set up one brushed electric motor powered by a 7.2v 4500 Nimh battery driving a 45mm twin bladed prop. Im using an old school mechanical speed controller as it was lying around as these things do. My only worry is the coupling which looks a bit weak to me. Im sure after this weekend the setup will probably change but thats half the fun ๐Ÿ˜€
