Apologies Sub Lieutenant. However, the Fleet Admiral condoned my actions. ๐
I surely will be more careful in future SIR! ๐

My apologies to all as I seem to be hijacking this thread away from its original purpose. Being new to this forum, I am yet to learn the navigation routes around here. I would request the moderators to shift my Irrelevant posts (and their responses from other members) elsewhere so that the others are not inconvenienced. After all, the original poster had created this thread specifically for clarifications on cowl vents. it now seems headed elsewhere.
My apologies.
I felt a close up of the search light may be helpful.

Dear Flack, the navigation lights and the searchlight were also built from scratch like every other component of the boat superstructure. The searchlight was crafted out of a 1" dia pipe and has a bright white LED mounted inside. it also has a crude reflector fashioned out of cooking aluminium foil. The nav lights are simple LED's with resistors soldered to the positive arms. Hope this helps.
As I said before, the cowl vents could be rotated in any direction so it doesn't really matter which way you build it.
Cheers!

Thanks. I have made my boat based on these two photographs. From what I know, these vents could be turned 360 degrees. if that be correct, any which way that the modeller wishes to portray it, is accurate.
Regards.

I can't seem to be able to modify or edit the earlier post. The 3rd. sentence should read as : Built out of plywood and foam board.

Good evening gentlemen, I have joined the forum today. I am from india and have been a modeller for the last 35 years or so. Though there was a long hiatus of 15 years or so till 2009.
Just wanted to thank you for this informative Mermaid build log. I am building the same boat to the same scale. Also being built is the RAF Fire / Rescue boat exploded to 130% at 31".
Warm regards,
VC
