Has anybody come up with a reliable method of stopping the plastic cap from gluing itself to the glue bottle?
Bought two largish bottles and both useless after a few usages due to getting blocked after caps stuck solid to them!!

I will definitely try vaseline but I have used teflon plumbers tape which seals the lid OK but sometimes binds, although I have always been able to get it to release albeit with some effort.

When I open a new bottle of super glue, I always put a smear of vaseline on the threads for the bottle top and the nozzle. This was on advice given to me by the chap I buy it from and I've never had a problem getting the bottle open. Hope that helps someone.

I use plastic nozzles โ€ฆ. (See pic !) , never recap my superglue but it never sets and a nozzle will last about a month i find , even if the glue dries at the end i just snip that bit off โ€ฆ. Plus you get a much more accurate application

I will, on occasion, wipe a little oil on the nozzle, making sure not to contaminate the ca. It works well but you have to be careful.

I use a small glue bottle I get from Aliexpress, see photo. If the metal nozzle glogs you can clear it with a short burst from butane torch. However be careful as this may induce a pop as the pressure is released. I clean the tip with an acupuncture needle. Unsure if you can still get these but they do sell nozzle cleaning needles to around 0.2mm. I have found this approach reliable over a long period.

    Hope this helps

I'd be interested to know of a solution to this as well, as I just spent several minutes removing the cap to a bottle of cyano with two pairs of pliers.

I use craft syringe needles on the end of the bottle nozzle. This allows allows fine control of letting a blob of glue out. I don't put a top back on because if the glue has sealed the end a few seconds in a gas lighter releases the blockage! You can get a pack of craft syringe needles off Ebay for not very much and they last for ages! My bottles of superglue therefore last for many months.๐Ÿ˜Š

When I get a blocked nozzle I heat with a small torch and this usually clears the blockage. I also use acapuncture needles to clear the tube. I do not get a lot of blockages as I try to remember to just squeeze the bottle and blow air through the rube before sealing it. This works well but if you forget a blockage will often result. I also clean the nozzle with a tissue because the tissue sticks to any remaining glue which then can be removed with a hobby knife.
Be carefull if you have to heat the tube as a tiny amount of glue can pop out, also the metal nozzle can discolour.

Once I've removed the cap from a bottle of CA, I don't put it back. I've been doing this for a few years now, and the only downside appears to be that the glue takes a little longer to cure. I should add that I also use nozzle extenders quite a lot which probably helps to slow the ingress of moisture.

I only use super glue with the brush built into the cap now. Far less waste.

Hi, I agree with the previous comment always wipe any excess spill off before putting the top on. i tend to buy several of the small bottles. As the glue doesnโ€™t tend to go off as in larger bottles once they have a large amount of air inside. If one bottle does set I still have a few unopened. More expensive initially but donโ€™t have to throw as much away.

Some build-up of dried super-glue around the nozzle is to be expected with extended use, but any spilling (or dripping) of any excess amounts around the screw threads should be wiped-off with a kitchen towel before putting the cap back on to make it easier to get the top off next time the glue is needed.
I also use a pin or suitable size nail etc to fit the hole size in the nozzle underneath the cap to help make an air-tight seal.
Most super-glue bottles are made of a plastic that does not bond that well to its contents and I use a modelling knife to slice away any dried coating before I start using it on my next job. It usually comes away in shards and so it is not difficult to remove.
Only using one bottle at a time also helps and makes it easy to stay on top of the bottle cleaning. ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks folks for all the suggestions. I think small, bulk buy as flaxbybuck suggests! I'm sick of breaking small drills trying to unblock the nozzle. Even contacted the manufacturer but no luck with replacement nozzles!!
    Consider the question closed please.

I scrape the bottle tip religiously and then wipe it with a rag before putting the top back on. Itโ€™s a bit of a pain but itโ€™s a habit thatโ€™s become second nature for me. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

You might try a light coating of Vaseline on the threads. I use this CA glue here in the USA. All the CA glues have a 1-year shelf life. and you can extend that by keeping them in the fridge in a sealed container. other thing is to tap the bottom of the container on your work bench to knock the residue out of the tip, then wipe the tip off, with a paper towel. before putting the tip back on. They also sell replacement caps and tops that are quite cheap.

Hello Cheddarman, I have been using Deluxe materials thin super glue which might behave differently to yours, but have been using mine for about a year now. I have found that scrupulously cleaning the nozzle and making sure that all the glue is sucked back into the bottle with nothing left inside the nozzle. always store upright. Good luck

Having experienced the same problems, and the glue itself going off after a while I have resorted to buying super glue from the Pound Shop. You can get 10 or 12 small tubes for ยฃ2 (used to be ยฃ1). If the nozzle or tube gets problematic just throw it away and start a new tube. Losses are minimised and time saved. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3 in 1 oil wipe or spray in nozzle and on thread. Just make sure to wipe the tip before using!
