Venice water taxi

I'm building a Venice water taxiboat from scratch.
The hull has been build from triplex covered with mahagoni stripes.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but technics are working and I hope to get here on the water in the comming week.

Hi Willem, Looks very good and well put together. Where did you get the driver from as I would one fopr my VWT. I have looked everywhere but to no avail. Regarding Chris's comment about the stern leg. I have used the same one and it siezed up up soon after water trial. When I went to the supplier I was told the warranty doesn't exist due to the Ukrane war as that is where the units were made and the business is no more. Disassembled and rebuilt with lubricant and now it spins freely. but yet to do full sea trial.
Willem keep us posted on your progress. I have attached a couple of photos of mine so far. Cheers Ian

Chris, Your build looks great as well and I like the way you fitted in out inside. I had to keep it all in the rear engine space so it was all a bit tight. Good fun lining up the drive on the stern unit to get it correct, Cheers Ian

Update to your questions

About the sterndrive, I believe this drive originaly comes from Graupner (G for Graupner), but this compagny doesn't exist anymore, only there sender/receivers survived.
I purchased my Sterndrive with Bauer-Modelle.com.
The driver is from 3drifter-miniatures.de
My original drawings came from Gilberto Penzo in Venice, https://www.veniceboats.com/it-progetti-piani-barche-barche-a-motore.htm

some progress with the taxiboat

Some progress with my taxi boat.
The steps make a nice detail. Implementing the windows was challenging: first the fittings and then gluing the "glass" without making a mess of it. I used a suction pen, used for handling SMDs, to hold and handle the glass.
Still need to add some handles and doors.
The boat is easy to steer, and the bow thruster is working fine.

Wow, for a minute I thought it was my boat. Looks good, especially in the water. I have yet to give mine a good run in open waters as I have only tested in our pool but its' not large enough to open her up. Did you use a stern drive unit or prop shaft and where did you source your plans from as I had great difficulty in getting hold of some. Cheers Ian

Venice water taxi

Hello ian,

I purchased a plan from Gilberto Penzo . From this plan I only used the shape of the hull and the height of the cabin. The rest is copied from photos on the internet.
I have fitted a stern drive that is partly hidden in a flooded compartment behind the motor. In the rear, where the stern drive comes out of the hull, I designed a cover and 3D printed it.
With the stern drive I found that you have to grease it by appying grease into the small tube/pipe on top of the drive. This has nowhere been shown in any paper that I have seen.

Hi Willem, Coincidentally that's who I ended up getting plans from as well. My plans are different to yours as he sent me 4 full size sheets that covered the 1/10 scale so I was able to trace the frames etc directly. However to of the sheets were not of the same plans so I had a fair bit of off line design to do myself. Thankfully the internet helped and I am pleased with the outcome. I have yet to put the name on her and more on this subject once I have it so watch this space, as they say. I am sure other modellers will be interested as well. Cheers Ian
