I wouldn't get away with that. As they would wait until it comes off the water and then check inside the boat.

Hi Boatshed,

That's one nice looking bit of kit, sorry to hear you have to off load it.

Cheers,
Stephen.

If you are out on the water with it, tell the Jobs Worths it's the electronic sound module and smoker which you have installed in it. Four strokes are a lot quieter with a good silencer fitted.

Hope all is well with your health!
I used to have an Austin Healy 100-6. Later I had a 1967 1/2 XKE. and last but not least a 1965 Norton Commando 750. Unfortunately I sold them, a decision I regret to this day.

Outboard drives

Hi pressonreguardless, I really pains me to get rid of it. All I have done with it, was to mount it onto a board and run it in. There are too many restrictions now. ☹️

Thanks for your like, she is a 1960 Rover 80 P4. I have got to put all the front suspension, steering and brake system all back on. I am rebuilding all of that with new parts and new bushes.
I started 2 years ago and due to the big C (prostate) i have had to put the car on hold. roll on spring I can start on her again.

This is an outboard I have and I have started to fit it onto an F1 Tunnel Hull. I have so many projects on the go and no time to do tham as house decorating along with esentcial vehicle repairs I need to get done. It is one chunky looking out board motor. I also have a Krick outboard that I am still not sure what to fit it onto. Possibly my little old Aerokits Sea Hornet.

The engine is beautiful!!

Surely the transom could be modified for easier fitment. Where there's a whim there has to be a way.

I would look forward to seeing this develope. I have started to fit an outdrive on a 50" Hydrofibre Pipedream that I bought back in the late 1970's. I was going to fit a Zenoah 26cc onto it but due to IC's slowly being outlawed on most ponds, I am now looking at fitting a brushless motor so sadly I'll now be selling this little beauty off. I am so dissapointed as I had fitted a clutch and an electric onboard starter onto it.

There were plans produced at a scale of 1:12 and the transom could be modified. Plan No. MM1061 are the ones.

That stern-drive is the right size for that scale.

Apparently the style of boat is not conducive for a drive Rick was considering. The curved stern design. But, keep dreaming Rick, there are boats which are good for that type of drive system.

Ah, the big Huntress 31. As said, you'd need two of those drives for the size and weight. And including the motors would be around £450!

The transom is very curved on the H31 and would need flattening off.

Doug Sometimes it's better in the mind where no money is involved .Than to get it in production and find out costs may be escalating and you can't back out. The drives may be out of my comfort zone. Not that my steam launches would agree with that.

Welcome aboard Trev 😊 The more the merrier!
You have no reason to be humbled, your 'magniferous' Typhoon alone proves that.
Looking forward to your future contributions.
Thank you but I'm not the Master.
Check out what Graham93, Robbob, mturpin, Martin 555, jbkiwi, and our steam engineers amongst many others have been up to. I'm just not too bad at finding things quickly😁
All the best, Doug 😎

"More in my mind than being able to build."
Tell me about it Rick 🙄
A 47" hull should have bags of room aft for the two drives, but at US220 a shout that's a costly venture! On the other hand I have to admit I've been known to fork out €1000+ for a kit, and still needed some refinement extras🤔. But, When you find something you've wanted for decades ...!
Looking forward to future developments Rick👍

Outboard drives

Thanks Doug Chris and Trev. Doug that is the drive I was posting about for a boat. The huntsman I was thinking of is 47" long. Not sure about much else as it was more getting thoughts from others as to what boat this drive would go onto. Think I was looking for a build different then any I have built. More in my mind than being able to build.

Don't thank me Trev, thank Messrs Larry Page and Sergey Brin, originators of GOOGLE!
They couldn't find a TFI, at least not one relevant to model boats, but did come up with the TFL. Pricy though. Must be made by Rolls Royce 😁

Outboard drives

Mornin' Rick,
Is this what you have in mind?
https://www.offshoreelectrics.com/proddetail.php?prod=tfl-b42515

If so the motor itself is actually inboard, but will require some hacking about of the aft end of the Huntsman to get it in as they appear to mount on the transom, rather than hanging under the hull like a traditional shaft drive. And won't you need two of them? Rather pricy at 220 bucks a go 🤑🤑🤑
I'm not a Fairey aficionado by any means but that's what occurs to me looking at the drive system data. Fair bit of Kit-bashing required! Quite a challenge.
Bon chance mon ami🤞

Outboard drives

Hi Rick

What Huntsman are you thinking of, 28 or 31?

But whichever I'd say probably not. Reason being is that the motor doesn't look very tall and seems to be designed for speed/raceboats.

You'd need to have a cut out well down the transom to get the prop at the right height and being a deep vee hull the motor would probably be in the water at lower speeds. Also it would need to have a well and false transom so that the boat doesn't get swamped when reversing.

So quite a bit of modification would be required. Nearly everything is possible though!

What are the dimensions of the outboard?

Or am I misunderstanding and it's the stern drive version? If so, then it could be installed in a Huntsman without too much trouble. Looks a very nice unit. I'm currently building a Huntress with a Bauer-Modelle stern-drive which isn't a bad unit but it's plastic. If the TFL unit had been available I would have bought one of those!

Thinking of a next build. Looking to find a plan for a boat that an outboard drive system would work on (TFI P1 Drive System). Would the Fairey Huntsman be a good boat to put such a power unit into.
Any help appreciated.
