Thanks guys information and pictures were a great help.
I will probably use sla batteries as I have plenty.
Also motor selection will be from stock, could possibly be a geared 540 or similar size.
Will definitely be 2.4ghz as I also have stock available.
So once Xmas is over I'll be trying to fit her out with all the necessities, trying not to damage her as it is a lovely model.
    Cheers Colin.

Hi, I built one about 10 years ago, only problem I found was it needed a lot of ballast to get it to sail low enough in the water, and ended up fitting 2 x 6volt 4Ah batteries one under the superstructure and one amidships but used a 385 motor fitted to a 2.5:1 reduction gearbox. The result was a tug that would run for several hours with no problems. I still have it, but it just sits in the model shed these days. Radio gear was kept simple rudder and electronic speed control. There is photo in my harbour.

JB, I think I will keep it as it was built, but adding radio gear and motor from my stockpile. My idea is to use it as a maneuvering trainer for my grandson, and any other youngsters at the waterside.
Needs to be a low rev motor with plenty of torque to give realistic handling.
    Cheers Colin.
