@pmdevlin That Rustolium Textured Paint is currently refusing to dry / harden for me. 😠

here are the colours, taken from Vosper original plans. Like I said earlier, the cabin sides are darker, but thats if you wanbt to be real picky!
Deck was painted in cerrux none slip paint. You can achieve this by first dusting with light coats a textured paint, till you get the effect you want, then paint over in bs631 or whatever you use. Using modelers license 😁 we all paint our cabin tops in a real glossy finish, can you imagine that actually happening! all the crew would fall off😆 then same with the hull, by the way, I did this! just because I thought it looked better

When I painted my two fire boats, 93 & 94 many years ago when this was the fireboat website and fireboat fundays were every year Pete Dimberline told me that the colour was BS639 for both deck and cabin, it was BS639 Matt for the deck and BS639 semi gloss for the cabin sides and Matt white for the cabin roof.

regarding the colours, I was very friendly with Peter Dimberline, and Peter Henshaw, both where original members of what was the Fireboat website, I was not far behind them!. PD knew someone that served on one of these boats, and between the 3 of them, they found the original Vosper plans etc, one of which had the paint codes.
BS639 was the deck colour, but the cabin sides was a darker grey, I dont have the code to hand at the mo. PH painted his boat this way, and it just didn't look right. I painted my 3 foot and 4 foot using BS639, but we reckon over time the correct shade was lost as time went on, you can see whilst its the correct code, it looks a bit green. I went to great lengths to get things right, but we can all use a bit of modelers license to create what we want. There where only two of these boats, they where not mass produced, it was infact a failed project as they arrived too late. The flying boats they where supposed to support where pretty much at the end of their useage

thanks neil big issue with the hull a unwanted guest ill have to replace the whole of one side of the bottom soon get that done just the weather for me newly rebuilt shed even with heat

If I remember from some time ago one of the original members - Pete Dimberlane told me the RAF paint code was BS 639 Light Slate Grey

A Google search will give companies that can make it up if you want to be completely original. But there are better colours out there like Ed and Mike say.

I’ll try and find the original email or it should also be in the original RAF pamphlet that’s on the CD I sent 😊

I agree with EDh those are the specs I used, the product I used for the textured finish on the deck was a halfords texture finish in a spray can its green but I then painted over with the deck colour on the chart, I had to have it specially mixed.

When I did my RAF tender several people on this site said do it any color you want, but if you want to be accurate, I used these specs. It does vary by year. Hope this helps.

The deck should be raf sky blue or a light blue/grey depending on the year
