Sad to hear of your bad fortunes. Great repair though. Looks like new.
I have two dogs and the only person they bite is me. Only in friendly playful mode though. If a dog bites it is always the owner who is at fault.

No lawyers for this American! My neighbors dog bit me twice (on my property in front of my house) about two years apart. Another person was bitten in between. Like American baseball, three strikes and you are out (read R.I.P.) in this county. We have had a number of dogs and they never bit anyone.

Anyway, good to see that your boat is repairable.

UK here. Had the lovely tetanus jab earlier. Still no update from the police though most likely here back tomorrow. I'll be keeping an eye out more now when at the boat pond. It's such a quiet yet popular place that you never think to look over you're back.

I hope tomorrow's re maiden is far better with the rebuilt vessel. One of my prop shafts had bent slightly so have had to replace that and my receiver had a small crack in it though have range tested and all is well. Hull I don't know how it survived as being a Revell kit the plastic is thin though just a few scrapes that I've managed to sand down slightly.

All in all things could have been far worse for both myself and my boat. Was a bit heartbroken as minus some photography building my boats is a big part of life and with health problems just now getting to the pond is a special occasion and one I look forward too when I've enough oomph to get out the door.

Roll on tomorrow and I'm hopefully I will have many nice photos of her finally at ease 🛥️

You are in the UK so unlikely to sue, thats very much an American thing. If you were dealing with a Canadian he wud apologize (thats a Canadian thing, we apologize for everything even when its not our fault)& his house insurance wud cover your GoPro loss+your "toy". Our provincial insurance wud cover your medical, & if he was a typical Canadian gent you wud be offered something for your "pain & suffering". Yes,get a tetanus booster & the police shud insist upon veterinary certification of the dog's rabies vaccination. Your doctor may advise you to be treated for rabies exposure anyway, its a terrible way to die...there is no treatment for it to save you. In Canada the dog wud be immediately quarantined..... for observation.

Where are you located? In the US, your damages from the bite and to your ship would be covered in a Small Claims Court case, no attorney required.

The dog owner is strictly liable for all damages arising from the dogs conduct, which would include getting a new kit for replacement parts.
So many ships . . . and so little time . . .

What a bloody shame. I feel for you. It was a real nice boat and I'm sure it will be again after the repairs.
Make sure you get a Tetanus shot if you have not had one recently and make sure the dog has had its rabies shot. Len1

Dog lover and owner of one here too. The park that our pond is in has a lead only policy though you get the type who just don't want to abide by that and the can of lager in his hand at 9am suggested he wasnt fussed about much. It's time to give her a small varnish prior to returning to the pond tomorrow morning and I'm praying the pond isn't frozen over as it's meant to be minus 8 tonight ❄️. I'm hopeful I'll have some nice photos tomorrow to upload.

Thank you all for the kind words in regards to the boat and also hospital. Just a small op thankfully though one I've been readily waiting for and should allow me to eat better again 😋.

Happy sailing everyone

The Dog's owner should look like the boat.
I don't know how many times I have head "He does'nt usually do that."
The owners are at fault and should be held accountable.
Just my two cents.

Terrible situation, I'm sorry for your losses. As a dog lover (hav had 5 large, 6 small) I apologize for the card's behaviour. There are no bad dogs, just bad dog owners. If you were American your msgs wud hav had the words "lawyer" & "sue" but i am wondering how these things are handled in the UK? PLEASE get well soon,& best wishes for a positive outcome from your other health issue. I can relate to your reconstruction, feel that something very positive will come out of your aggressive rebuild. Hope we see more pix soon. All the best.....🤞😊.

A few locals know the culprits name and have provided witness statements too. There where kids playing close by so quite lucky it wasn't them who where attacked. I've been to the doctors and have had my hand cleaned up and a dressing popped on it. Hadn't realized my leg had been bitten though adrenaline took over and I pushed the boat into the water to get it out the way only for her to sink as she was upside down. All in all though she's back looking ok and with some more tinkering I'll have a nice looking vessel again

What a pity, all that work wrecked. Did you get a name to give the police? Keep us informed as to any outcome. Best of luck with the operation..

Feel for you! A toy!! I think not... re the bite suggest you get some magnesium paste from the chemist and apply that on plaster. It will draw out any impurities in the skin. Rebuild and give us a maiden voyage pic!

Rubbish photo as was standing in the sea. But finally we have a maiden voyage. All went well just some light tweaking of ballast and then it's paint and touch up time. Back to the pond tomorrow for better photos

Hi Mike yes it was an unfortunate chain of events though she should be ready to go again now. Luckily the internals survived unscathed. Will be painting her again later to completely revamp what she looked like before as the previous version is now tainted lol

Yes the owner should be held accountable especially in the current climate as a woman was killed last week elsewhere in the UK when dogs attacked. Completely agree with the kennels being full too as our local one is struggling with capacity just now

Thinking about changing hull colour? Yellow? Do you think a yellow would suit it?

So within 45min I've managed with one hand to give her a quick revamp. Definitely more research vessel now. Will touch up paint later though going to head back out again after some painkillers and re maiden. Sadly my GoPro camera has suffered dog wounds too so it's goosed. Operation for unrelated issues at hospital tomorrow so I really only have today until I'll be resting for the month

Hello H-H!
Oooops!! 🙈🙈🙈
What a bummer! Too bad about your boat and great job!
Get well soon with your hand and I hope the dog owner is held accountable. An apology would be the least!
Well, In the Corona time many bought a dog to be able to walk, respectively to have a reason. Now the animal shelters are overcrowded again . . .
Get well soon Michel-Cl.

Maiden voyage disaster

So my Revell Hermann Marwade maiden was a disaster. Having taken 3 months to complete her today was the day. I had chosen a lovely spot and switched everything on. Was just placing her into the water when a dog off lead charged at me. I put my hand out but got bitten, lost my balance and landed on my boat. Dog owner said luckily it's just a toy and that his dog doesn't normally do that. Have reported it to the police and awaiting the outcome of the bite.

What it doesn't cover is what sits in front of me now though I plan to rebuild without certain parts of the wrecked structure and the parts that the dog chewed when I was getting up.

Oh well back to the repair work ☹️
