I have a few yachts and a few motor boats but to date have not used a box to keep water out of the electrics. On occasion some items get wetted but dry out quickly without any problems. Only once has all my kit got wet, and that was when a motor boat sank whilst under power. A week later I rescued the boat from 7' deep water, removed all the electrics, took them to bits, dried them out (lightly oiled or greased where appropriate) and lo, everything worked again, no problem !πŸ˜‰

Even if you do use a sealed box it’s always a good back up to put a rubber balloon over your receiver and battery pack with a elastic band sealing were the cables enter. 😎
Compare yourself with others and you either will become vain or bitter.

A small tupperware type box is a good substitute for the traditional screw topped radio pot...
If it don't fit, use a hammer to make it fit....

I use a food containers with a clip on top, I put a false floor in it to mount all the 'lectrics and a fan on the lid should things get warm, that is the only way wet stuff can get In.any cables exit via a hole fitted with a rubber grommets sealed with silicon, Box is then screwed down inside.πŸ€žπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Send an email to Peter with the Footy Association.

I am not aware of water getting inside the Footy design. I do take precautions even with my larger sailboats by using a clear β€œHockey Sock β€œ tape applied to the seams of the cabin and deck just before sailing.

The receiver is not in any type of container. I keep the receiver in position using velcro and it is located high up in the cabin or tucked in under the deck.

My batteries are secured too. I also put my on/off switch well protected from water but accessible from the top of the cabin.

When sailing, I try not to allow water over the rail it’s not racing, just pleasure sailing.
