The 'Colin Archer' boats went out with the Norwegian fishing fleet to be a rescue boat. Colin Archer (died 1921) was a Norwegian naval architect and designer. He submitted this design to the Resue society and it was accepted.
They are visually different as being double enders or canoe stern and strongly built.
RS1 is the original but the Christiania RS10, became famous as in 1997 she was overwhelmed in a storm, took on water and sank in 1600 feet of water. The owners searched with a ROV and found her and she was recovered and is sailing now.
I think there were 2 kits from different companies that came out at the same time, Billing being one of them. The sailing model is to 1:15 scale but Billing make a smaller one as well.
Virtually all the fishing boats as well as the Colin Archers were painted white.
At a different scale the Billing Mary Ann fishing boat would be a contemporary model.
I am told they sail well but not seen one on the water.

Roy
