That looks like Genesis, The Garden of Eden for R/C boats.

Many model companies have come and gone but Dumas endures.⚡⚡⚡

I wonder how many dogbone universals they have sold?
The sure way to succeed is, just try one more time

Phil,
I had my wife along, so with "adult supervision" and very limited extra storage space in our camper, my spending spree had severe limitations. Luckily for me, shipping within the US is cheap, LOL.

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

I have been building Dumas kits for decades. Their shovel-nose hydroplane kits put them on the map as far as I was concerned and their rubber-powered planes are (by and large) beautifully executed and very scale. Their wood quality was touch-and-go years ago (very dry), but has steadily gotten better IMHO. Their customer service is excellent and replacement parts are easy to come by.

Great place bet you came out a few pounds lighter than you went in 😁😂😂

Hi Dave thanks for your reply a phone call 20 odd years ago was not really an option for me in the UK.
However I take your point.

The kit I have is American Beauty and back then it was a fibre glass kit I see now they have re-introduced it with a plastic hull. The complete kit is very expensive.

The underwater fittings kit, I made up my own from scratch and centralizing the prop tubes into the kort nozzles took some doing. The model is recognizable as such but needs a lot more work.

I was also in contact with 'Towboat Joe' on his web site. He made models for local museums of the towboats on the Mississippi and Ohio rivers and was a retired skipper himself. I find them fascinating.

He sadly died, not very old either, but he made several suggestions to me on how to couple up the 6 rudders.

I hope I manage to build all my unfinished models but there must be 10 years of effort there!
best regards

Roy,
I have 11 of their boats. Most are "rescues". My experience is that they have been very responsive when I inquired about replacement parts. Their pot metal fittings aren't especially great, but I haven't run across any that are "blobs".
The gentleman in one of my pictures is Doug, he is the person I have worked with when needing pieces for restoration/repairs. He has always been helpful.
Personally, I have found that a phone call is more effective than emails/texts when needing help from them.
I hope this helps ....

Hi I have one of their kits given to me in 2001, nice GF hull but the wood is dreadful, really cheap and nasty and some obviously chipped ply. It took me ages to contact them and they replaced half of the fittings as some of them were just 'blobs'.

A friend has a racing boat kit which I helped him work out what was what, it never got built.
Have things improved now? I really hope so!
Roy,
(I might add I do not like running down any company in the industry but.....)

Working there must be a dream. That would be just right for my father's son.

Not much work, and a helleva lot of distraction. In fact there can't be any work, it is all play!!

I called Dumas Products when we were in the area, and they welcomed me to stop in and visit.
I met with Doug (who I have spoken with on the phone numerous times).
He let me wander their lobby, and another room with semi-completed models.
I suspect they don't get a lot of "drop-in" visitors, but they were open and welcoming.
