Hi Graham93, Those two video's are amazing, I didn't think their arms would work like that. Also the passenger in the rowing boat smoking a PIPE, or am I mistaken, I could see smoke coming out. Those are just brilliant. All I can say is thanks form posting them, amazing, I don't have the thought's like that, I did have a Six Million Dollar Man and his boss man Oscar Goldman dolls and I cut them in half to use them in a 4" speed boat, and I found two pencil sharpeners in small crash helmets and took the sharpener out and they fitted the heads just right. To think now they worth a few quid my son's said I was crazy cutting them in half doing that. They were their originally but I didn't nick their Action Men. A few years back my wife and I were walking around a boot fait and I grabbed an action man boat, well I think it was and a Barbie Dolls boat and I said I was going to turn them into R/C boat's and still not got around to it. To think Barbie is the all go now. I had been looking for Barbie doll on boot fairs last years but people are asking too much money for them now. But I still haven't started doing them yet. I am slowly building an Aeronoat Classic speed boat. The kit to me is well below standard, I should have bought the Aerokit's Sea Hornet that would have been better value for money. I do have one that I built way back in 1974. I need to strip the paint and do a full refurb, It used to have a Enya 19 glow engine in it. But all my boat's will now be going electric. Too many places banning IC engines so I sold hem all off.

Hi Graham93, I see you say you have use action men figures and a Disney Ariel figure. I am wondering do their arms work in they way you need them to for the rowing? I would love to see them in action on the water, do you have any video on the water yet?

Excellent detailing Greg๐ Especially the instrumentation, more than I've seen on some older naval patrol boats. I feel sorry though for the apparently single crew member๐ค Chief cook, bottle washer AND Cap'n, helmsman and deckhand to boot!
Oh and BTW: Please pass on my order to the cook: 2 sausages (beef if possible๐), 2 fried eggs (sunny side up), and chips. Real English chips please, not American chips (=English crisps) or so called French Fries, which actually originated in Belgium.๐ Cheers, Doug๐

I have crew on some of my boats. They would look a little odd without!
These two boats were built at 1/6th scale. Part of the reason for choosing that scale was so that there would be suitable figures available. The two crew in the rowing boat are Action men, suitably aged. The kayaker is a Disney Ariel figure.
All the figures were sourced from eBay for just a couple of ยฃ.

Most of my model fishing boats are based on inshore and mid-shore Canadian lobster boats, which I build either 1:18 or 1:12 scale, and many of them, the client wants full R/C. Being large scale, means the wheelhouse windows are large enough to warrant detailing the interiors. I have bought some figures to scale and I do the interiors also. - I'm including couple photos of interiors, plus working crewman near the gear
