Bill, We all live in rooms of experience that some may never enter. I have been in three of those rooms with the big "C" on the door. I have left each one and closed the door behind me. Stay positive and use all the tools in your toolbox to lean into this. Best Hessel

Bill, fight on, you are one of the few people who have given freely your words of wisdom and your wit keeps us enthralled.
Time still to finish the Aerokits Fireboat and your JOFFRE tug, which you seem to have almost been ready for sea trials.
And I count myself fortunate to have actually met you.
Don't give up shipmate, you are an inspiration to many of us.
Cheers and best wishes Colin.

I said to my wife regarding the hundred and thousands of models I have built:

If there is an afterlife, throw a couple of kits into my grave and I will continue building. 😂😂😂

Bill, so sorry to hear the sad news. I am not a very wordy guy so I just want to echo the words and thoughts that have already been expressed.

Hi Bill,
I am sorry to hear your news. But as others have said the doctors are not always right about these things. My late father in law was told he only had a few months to live but he decided to learn Tia Chi and lived another 30 years.
Cheers,
Stephen.

Bill, I turned 80 last month and my wife is right behind me. I don't have enough fingers and toes to count the surgeries I have had. I am very sorry to hear you diagnosis. As we go on there is less and less we can do, kind of like our limits are shaped like going down a funnel. You seem to have a sense of humor which helps distract some of the difficulties you and all of us will have to face.

All I can say is try to hang in there as best you can, even if it is perusing these interesting discussions on model boats.

I just looked at your "harbor" and you have an impressive fleet.

Take care, and I do hope that you will get some better news along the way.

Sincerely,
Lew

This branch of my life in a Senior community, I have.become too familiar with hearing a siren, and wondering if is an ambulance for one of us, or just a Sheriff on a chase. If is coming for one of us, we can only hope for a safe return.

I can’t offer advice, as every situation is different. I do hope to spend time with my grandsons, so one may wish to help me with my projects.’ But I have found out here that you don’t have to pretend you are happy, as it is okay to have a crummy day.

Wishing you strength in the days ahead.

Bill, I really don’t know what to say. Along with the others here I truly hope and pray the diagnosis is wrong. Please, take care of yourself, get rest, and if you feel like it give us a holler here. One of the other posters regards this forum as a family….he’s right, and we’re pulling for you.

Sir…. May you, family and friends stay strong.
I watched a good buddy of over 42 years succumb to the big “ C “. He stayed true to himself all the way. Grumpy, miserable, cantankerous and one of the most stubborn mules I’ve ever met.

He did tell me about his legacy he’s leaving behind. The positive influence to nephews, nieces, family and friends.
I couldn’t help but admire his thinking
Sir, think of the people you’ve influenced in your life. More than you know….
Fight it.
Don’t get stressed, CAUSE IT !

So sorry Bill to hear your sad news of both your Dr's diagnosis and that you will no longer be making any more posts.
Take care, I don't know what else to say, other than I am not a really religious person but may GOD be with both you and your wife. 😇My thoughts are with you both, farewell.

Bill, sorry to hear about your challenges, all I can say I’d do not give in. Sometimes there is a glimmer of light in the darkest places.

I can sympathise with you as I have had health issues since December and just when I think it’s over there are complications but now I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hope you can find the same light.

It's difficult to find the correct words in circumstances like this, particularly when it involves friends not met.
Thank you for the many modeling insights you have, and will continue to provide.

I wish you peace and comfort in knowing you have friends all over the world.

Hi Bill.
So sorry to hear your news. I can only hope, along with you, that they have it wrong.
Your humour will be greatly missed on the site and when you feel better, slip in a joke or two. Make sure you put them in the wrong thread though because I really enjoy the whinging afterwards.
Best wishes Bill.

Dearest Bill, when I saw the notification of your new topic I was very happy that you were back to writing.
As soon as I read the content, happiness immediately turned into sadness.
I am saddened by your situation. The only consolation is that you can and want to continue to communicate with us on this forum, this is a very good thing for me.
I wasn't lucky enough to meet you personally but only on the web, however I understand that you are a great person. Even in these moments your human qualities shine through.
I don't forget easily and I remember that, among the many very kind people on this forum, you and ColinH (apart from Andy who made me sign up) were the kindest. You told me several times to write despite my terrible translations and you defended me when I received criticism that you didn't consider correct. There I realized what you were made of.
I don't believe much in stereotypes and generalizations but if I have to imagine the classic English gentleman I have you and Colin in mind.
I will enjoy your every contribution on this site, I'm happy that there are people like you and great model makers like you. Your advice and exemplary models are of great help to me and all other modelers.

Hang in there Bill and try to get some more opinions. From personal experience, jumping to the "head of the class" as always been my motto as far as diagnoses are concerned. Keep fighting the good fight. You know we've got your back in the cheerleading department!

Hi Bill,

So sorry to see your post.

I am sure I am not alone in having a lot to thank you for. Things have certainly been a bit grim for my wife and I over the past 8 months or so, but your kindness and good wishes with the Model Boat Magazines have proved a real help in our recovery. Devon is a long long way South but we are thinking of you.

I’m not sure what you have but check on Exosomes. They are a stem cell derivative for regenerative medical. It can rejuvenate a lot of things like organs, skin, muscle, bone. In USA a process called PrP can make it from your blood. Overseas you can get it from a few places as rules easier. There is one company that has fda approved drug master file approval. It has no dna or live cells n is the only one you can use in USA. It has been shipped overseas to a few countries and they export licenses. I have friends who used it with good results. One fixed his knee so he didn’t need knee replacement. It worked very fast. Read up on it Google exosones therapy for ( fill in whatever you have as problem) your born with exosomes t birth but they slow down after about 50 yrs. I would look at the injectable form for best results. It is real n the newest medical field rejuvenation of inflammation of cells. It has as a side effect nothing except it won’t fix disease your born with in some cases. Do some research on Google sorry to hear of your situation.

Sorry to hear you are bowing out, hope you stay to offer advice and comment too.
I know the feeling, have been building models for over 50 years, and still very active in building for commissions, layingbup fiberglass hulls, and selling and shipping model fittings and equipment through my model shop.

I know my wife says " What are you going to do with all this stuff??" Or "What am I going to do with all your stuff??" I'm not quite ready to even think of this yet, still having too much fun in my retirement.
Cheers

Good afternoon fellow boat builders.
I have been an active member of our site for many years and along with most of you enjoyed every moment of it.(Thank you Stephen (Fireboat) for all your hard work.
The banter, characters and fantastic projects have been superb.I have enjoyed posting items and helping others where I can.
For the past 18 months I have been plagued by ill health that has forced me to stop my hobbies and many other facets of my family life and seen me spend more and more time In hospital.
I have now sadly been diagnosed with a terminal diagnosis, with quite a short time span (so I’m advised) It would be nice to think the Dr’s are wrong
I am now pretty much unable to do anything and building/sailing is almost impossible.
I will continue to read items where I can to follow the many fantastic things you all do,but will not be posting.
Keep up the great work one an all and happy days on the pond bringing up grandchildren to continue our hobby.
Great Regards
Bill
PS…The answer is Titanic.😂😂😂
