Finally back along with the "Harvest Queen"

Great news with the all clear. Always a big worry so now you can start to enjoy life again. May a wee drop will help as well. Your mighty craft looks fantastic and I love where you are sailing it. Cheers Ian

Finally back along with the "Harvest Queen"

Very nice ship. How does she sail, I see no keel?
My Finkenwerder Fischewer has no keel and no motor, this makes sailing a challenge.
Once she had to be recovered from the bottom of our pond, but she is sailing again.

Hi Scott. You did a great job.
It would have been a shame not to see such a beautiful boat sail.
Thanks for sharing these photos.
I would also like to see a video of the sailing.

I was very intrigued by the river sailing. Here in the rivers are small and with strong currents so they are too dangerous for rc modeling. This river instead seems very calm, almost a lake.

P.S. Congratulations on your recovery and for getting back into modeling.

I'm almost there. Out cycling daily and weight is coming back on. More good days now than bad and looking forward to summer ☀️

Finally back along with the "Harvest Queen"

Hello everyone. So I've been away for two years or just over that. I had been diagnosed with throat cancer at a ripe age of 35 and it got the hold of me for some time.

Happy to say I've recently been given the all clear and although I'll never eat normal food again only liquids I'm very grateful to be here.

So onto what I've been upto. Well I was gifted a lovely static display model ship. It's a Zulu fishing ship called "Harvest Queen". For over 40 years it sat on display and I had been asked if I'd like to restore her and if possible get her onto the water.

So after many many hours of patching the hull, rigging and what felt like days sorting ballast out in the bath it was time to maiden her on a tidal river close to home.

She sails very well and draws a lot of attention. I've a Hitec sail winch, standard servo for rudder and a 540 brushed motor for return to shore if needed. Running her on a simple 7.2v nimh battery

Here are some photos of her by the river.

She arrives on a cart that doubles as a stand.

I'm hoping to be able to drive again in the future so I can visit some ponds again too.

Anyway I'm glad to be back here and already admiring so many models built whilst I've been away

Scott 😊
