I have been trying to remember where I had been when I photoed it. It was after a visit to the Island of Mona from Hobart Tas. The MR1 catamaran is the 'Business Class' way to go!
Mona is an enormous Art Museum if you are ever in the vicinity go, whether you regard art as rubbish or not it is excellent. The entrance from the sea is 99 steps, going up, so be warned. All forms of art are there and I defy anyone to find it boring. One I remember is an endless up/down reflection but with black oil on a large flat surface, it makes you feel giddy.

Hi, the slightly damaged ferry reminded me of one I saw in Tasmania. Very strange colour scheme, you have to look twice to work out what you are looking at.

It looks like the structure it grounded upon is a harbor entrance jetty. If true, had the skipper reduced speed to almost dead slow? What was the visibility? Have any accident reports been released by the governing authorities? Was this a recent event? I haven’t seen it reported by any of the few outlets I usually read.

The structural failure point seems to be exactly where it would be expected to occur.
Hopefully there were no fatalities and serious injuries where minimal.

RN in munich
In the early days they had the same from Calais to Dover. I can’t count the number of times i did this crossing. As confartable as an airplane. I still don’t know why they stopped it! May for not interfering with the chunnel train

Ouch indeed😭
Ten years or so ago Gisela and I were in Croatia.
We took a trip on just such a hydrofoil high speed (40+ knots) ferry from Poreč to Venice.
Most exhilarating.
We had seats upper deck port side right up front, so on that ship we would have been sitting right on the fracture line! Eeek!

Cheers All, Doug😎
PS. Statement from the helmsman:
"But the mole moved. I swear it. It turned to port instead of starboard. I had no chance."
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

I feel sorry for the passengers and crew that did not know that the helmsman had left his post.....someone got hurt on that one.
