I would replace the motor with a similar size 380 MFA motor. I have one that runs a 40mm prop, 7.2 volts battery @2.5 amps. It should just be right for your boat.

The 6 -15 volt motor is not so powerful and changing the motor for a motor of similar dimensions will be least disruptive to the drive line. A Graupner Speed 400 would do as well.

Hi Duncan

I work on 12k. unloaded to give around 10k. when loaded when on the water, though you could get away with 9k. as you don't want manic performance.

You may have seen the video of Flying Christine II model on my recent build blog. It is fitted with a MFA torpedo 400 4.5V -> 15v motor with a 8.4v NiCad battery. I want it to be able to just lift onto a plane so a bigger motor is required. A brushless motor has been suggested but that would mean also changing the ESC and I want to keep the price to a minimum!! I've looked at the 500 series motors but the have a range of RPMs. What do you advise as a minimum RPM of a motor with a 35mm 3 bladed prop please?
