Motor and Esc Wiring

Martin the video from HobbyKing is ideal and I'll be doing that this weekend such an easy fix so thank you.

JB I'm not sure whether my ESC is autocalibtrating so I'll check at the same time as changing over the motor wires and a mode change on the TX. Busy times and learning for this novice this weekend.

JB I've put a photo of my setup hope this answer your question on what type of ESC.

Cheers guys much appreciated

Just a note, -If you have a Futaba TX, the throttle channel on those is reversed as standard (I think JR or one other brand is the same) so that can cause a bit of confusion.

Also after doing this fix (reversing 2 motor wires and reversing the throttle channel as per Martins suggestion), it pays to also re calibrate your ESC using your ESC instructions, - (some ESCs are auto calibrating) to make sure that it is setting the upper and lower limits correctly, or you can have other problems like no response etc. Make sure your trims are all centered before calibration as if the throttle trim is past 1/2 way on the upper side, the throttle may not register the lower limit and vice versa. What ESC you have?

Motor and Esc Wiring

Hi Neil,

A short video on brushless motor reversing.

The only thing to remember is the propeller direction for forward/reverse motion.

This next video is to change the speed forward/ reverse.
It sounds like you have to reverse the motor to what you actually want and then reverse the setting on the transmitter.

If it looks right it probably is.

So Jacko do I just keep swapping two of the three wires until I get what I want hopefully without causing a load of smoke 😂😂

Motor and Esc Wiring

Here we go a little more torture for you guys😁
During the fiddling with my whinny motor I noticed the motor went faster astern than it did going ahead. Can't be right surely so a piece of paper near the prop proved me right as the paper didn't move until it was going astern. So I reversed the channel on the TX and the paper moved when when going ahead...which I believe is right?
This obviously means I've managed to wire up the motor and Esc incorrectly. So silly question time.......how do you know which wire goes to which when they are all different colours is it simply trial and error or am I completely thick?
