Doug,

Yes, that’s the one. There are 4 servos in the body, two to raise and lower the oars, one to bend the body and one to turn the head. They must be micro servos. When I started on mine, I decided I couldn’t fit 4 in so Bionic Bill has two, one for the head movement and one to bend the body. The other two, for raising and lowering the oars are under the deck.

Sorry bout' that Doug, can you imagine what the cost would be to get all those oars working mechanically.😆.

I think someone mentioned this vid,? -----Sorry, Doug's already added it previously.
No fear of getting skin cancer, a bit past that!😁 Reckons he's been rowing naked for 40yrs and it's had no effect whatsoever😁

Ron,

I believe it was built by someone from the Isle of Man. I don’t know them, but that video, and several others on YouTube showing the mechanism provided a large part of the inspiration for my rowing boat.

I'd love to build a coracle with working paddler, but the stroke is so complicated that it would need technical brains far in advance of mine to be able to do it.

"Next, will be people building canoes with a paddler doing the “ J stroke”.😉"
Hi Ron, Guess what!?
Not quite the J (or Hook) stroke, or a canoe, but here's Sam and his girl friend Sally paddling their Kayaks. The models are 156cm LoA.

FOR ALL PROSPECTIVE RC OARSMEN AND OARSLADIES😉!!
Herewith a translation of the 'destructions' for the rowing controller posted below.
In both PDF and Word format just in case.
Order now to avoid disappointment😭
Suspect there may be a run on this module in the near future!!

Don't strip your gears Cash😮
Happy sculling folks👍

Here’s a few pics of the kit. I made up a quick stand tonight and trimmed the hull down, it needs sanding. I’ll start a proper build blog once I really get to it. There’s a lot of good info that’s been posted here, nice to know there’s alternative methods to get her running in case I blow the gearbox up🤣

OK. I'll post a translation in the next day or so👍
No rush as they are on holiday the next few weeks.

Funny you should mention that Ron😁
I've been pondering a mechanism for that for years.
Also how to 'scull' a coracle for Nerys.
But then, I've also wondered for 50 years or so how to improve on the decades old windscreen wiper for cars!🙄🤔
Any ideas??
At least now you know where to get a control module for your rower😊

Hi Doug, this system really appeals, I said to Graham that I fancied doing the row boat but the electronics would be the sticking point so this is the solution, a translation would be great if its not to much trouble and I'm sure I'm not the only interested party.

Hi Pete,
As far as I know they are still in business.
Last catalogue / price list was in January this year.
See attached catalogue and description of the rowing controller.
Both in German I'm afraid🤔
I've just had a good look round their site and there is no indication that they are shutting down😀
Seems to be a husband and wife team. He develops the circuits, also to special request incidentally! The Mrs (Monika) looks after component buying and production and sales.
Must admit I'm tempted myself😉
Now looking for a suitable boat / skiff plan or kit.
Something that someone without Graham's master woodworking skills (i.e. me🤔) can build without too many bloodstains!
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS I just noticed that they are on holiday from 26th June until 15th July.

The video of the rower looks as if he has been out on the water to long without food and water working his fingers to the bone.

So am I Martin.
BTW: This is the source of the oar controller for the skeleton!😮
http://momo-sauerland.de/index.php/modellbau/spezial-losungen/
It controls two servos per oar (like Graham's version👍)
PDF description in German only I'm afraid.
If anyone is genuinely interested in the controller I'll translate it.
Cheers, Doug 😎
BTW Martin; there are still some kits around on Ebay / Amazon. Around 200 to 350Euro🤑😮

Build blog, with reports of snags and solutions/improvements. German only I'm afraid🤔
http://modellbau.geroso.net/html/tina.html
Basically he put in a better motor than the kit 360; lower RPM, higher torque and stronger servos with 100Nmm instead of the kit supplied 39Nmm torque to improve the thrust (pull?🙄) of the oars.

Vid of another 'Tina' in action😀

Have fun Cash👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS and this is what happens if you flog the oarsman too long!😮
Probably the most realistic looking and effective rowing movement I have seen - Yet!😉
Looking forward to the Graham & Cash offerings with Dickensian expectations😉

Graupner Tina Rowboat

Hi y’all. Looking for a little guidance. This all started when I did a little horse trading with my buddy Larry. He wanted my old Slow Stick, and we made a deal whereby he got the plane and a little cash and I received a skiff like the one he ran with a small outboard, a used Kyosho Jackson outboard, and a nib Wedico Christina. He also had, on the same couch he knew I’d be sitting on, a nib Graupner Tina. Now, Larry knows me well. He knows in his heart that if he had a Graupner kit that looks like the cat chewed it up, I’d still look at it. I’m a sucker for anything Graupner. Anyway, I knew what she was, and what she’s worth, especially since the kit includes the rowing mechanism and the rowing doll kits too. I told him up front that there’s no way I can pay what that boat would go for, but he made me a deal I couldn’t pass up. Right now, my goal is to build her, and run her around the lake to relax and possibly get attention from passers by..since she’s so unusual, I figured she’d be a conversation starter, and we might pick up a new convert or two . If I get bored of her, I know that if I do a good job on her, I can sell her for what I have invested. My question is, does anybody have any experience with this boat, and if so what pitfalls if any should I be aware of? Any response welcome.
Cas
