There is a model boat lake in poole park, They have a club house by the lake, wednesdays is when most members seem to be there in any numbers, but in good weather someone will be on the venue anytime.
Sail, and electric only, no diesel motors Im afraid.Hope this helps.

Hello folks just a few pics of my slow progress, had to cut my own planks which took a bit of time. 180 of them so I could stagger the joints.

Hello Dave
Nice of you to reply so promtly, I would appreciate any referance pics which would be helpfull. I know it was a static model orignally.I am putting rc in mine like others have done. But not having the actuall build drawing makes it a bit hard to scale accuratly. if you google" nordkap 476" they give you the frames and keel plus some super structure the rest is suck it and see if you know what I mean.I need to have access to the steering gear. Can you remember if the one your club had, the whole rear superstructure lifted off, because its fixed on the static one.

Hello fellow modelers
Anyone out there with the main assembly plan for "NORDKAP". I dont mean the parts drawing as I have that. I am scratch building a 6' foot version, but need to see where some parts go.
Here are a couple of pics to show current progress.
Martin.

HI Dave
It was the esc that was faulty, I took it back to Westbourne Models who were very helpfull. I upgraded to a Electronize esc FR15HVR-AN model. so problem solved.
Thanks once again.

Thanks for your input dave, When I first connected all the components Ie, servo, esc, which is a 15amp viper, motor battery, switched on the esc switch the 10amp fuse blew on the positive lead to the battery, replaced it but just blew again as soon as esc on off switch went on. Could the esc be faulty?

HI guys
I wondered If anyone lives In the poole area that could help me with the power setup on my model.
like which channels do I use for power and steering on a 6 channel reciever, Its a planet T5 tran rec package, but I think It Is set up for airplanes, motor just starts as soon as the power Is switched on. amongst other things.

fellow modeler's
Can anyone tell me where I can get the deck grey paint for my raf fireboat, I have used a oil based primer, but cant find a suitable 750ml or 1ltr brushable paint. The small tins of humbrel would not be cost efective.
Thanks for any helpfull replies

just a quick up-date, havent done a lot lately, given it a few coats of paint and several sandings, little bit of filler here and there, still got to make a mast, air intakes, lifebelts, final coat, lettering decals. another month might get it in the water.

I went to westbourne models and mentioned the plight of some of you, I was told that bangzoomer had been reimbersed after they had tried tirelessly to locate some motors for him, when graupner had folded. it appears graupner have now been taken over and things should get back to normal order wise.
Im just passing on what I was told.

HI Colin
Nice to hear from you again, it has come out at a metre long in the end. I have a johnson that I am going to use, 12volt gel battery, viper 15 esc, 38mm prop. See how that goes for a start.

HI James
Your right builders licence does come to mind !, I have tried to get a bit of a curve on the bow section now the sanding has come into play, the sides are not entirly flat they are curved it just does not show up well in that particular photo. now its skined it notices more. I dont think it will please the purist, just my interpretation of one.
regards.

Hello Colin,
Thanks for your interest, your right about it being simple, its not flat bottom allthough it was for construction purposes. enclosed a pic with first step of keel before adding the ribs. Also the picture Im scaling from, both views are 5" long which has been interesting. I would love to have a go at a 48" in ply sometime, so might well take up your kind offer.

Hello to all members, stumbled on this site while looking for raf fire boat info, Im scaling a model from a photo to give me something to do in retirement, I have made it roughly three ft which seems to be the average size on here. I dont expect it will be to the excellent standard that some of you have built but I will enjoy myself in the process. Will put some pics on from time to time as the build progresses.
Happy modeling to you all
Martin.
