Speedline 1/48th scale Huntsman
Have started to build. Like all good builders I started with the stand. this comes with the model and Is laser cut from perspex. not easy to photograph!!! The hull has been trimmed and the chine strips and spray rails have been added. Also the slot for the prop shaft and the hole for the rudder post have been drilled. The final photo Is just to give some scale to the model. The unfinished project In the background Is my Sea Breeze. Cant wait to get to the electrics, I think I'll need a microscope!!!!

Well I thought it was about time to bump this up. Took a deep breath and soldered up the motor and speed controller. The little lipos I put in storage charge about 3/4 years ago perked up as soon as connected to a charger. Low and behold it all worked. Have to play around with throttle settings but weโre back on track๐

Does anybody know the condition of the St Albans model boating pond. I know itโs had issues with water levels sometimes and obviously COVID-19 has curtailed its use. Will it soo be in use again?

They also do brushless motors and all sorts of other escโs including I believe some dedicated marine ones. The dual brushed/brushless escโs are great favourites with the scale monster truck fraternity which some using anything from stock 540 silvercans up to insane brushless power

The HW1060 is an excellent choice. It is primarily a car esc but as it is fully programmable by button or card can be set up to work with boats, both NiMh and lipo. Canโt do brushless though. There other HW products that do. I would try to ensure you get fully branded version as there are a lot of clones out there. Oh and itโs waterproof

Not sure really. This one will be the first marine brushless esc I've used. If you use a car one you may need to re configure it as most car ESC's are set up as F/B/R or just F/B, obviously with a boat brakes are no real use and no reverse is even worse. I imagine most Marine brushless esc's are unsensored as they need to be waterproof. In cars the unsensored ones can "Cog" or "Stutter" at low speeds not sure how this would affect a boat. Mainly I would guess it may cause a less than smooth transition from forward to reverse.

1st Hansajolle question. Boat is set up with servo for main and one for the fore sail? Am using a Planet T5 so which channels should I use. Also do I need to have ratchet or sprung TX controls for a sailing boat? Could I run both servos off a y lead to start with to make learning how to sail easier????? Am hoping to join Black Park Club in new year so if there are any members on this forum I'll be picking your brains soon%uD83E%uDD13

Have started building. SWMBO wanted her pressie early. Of course I agreed%uD83E%uDD14 if anybody decides to but one of these I have a tip. The instructions supplied are in German. You have to download the English ones, however there is also a set of tips which are updates of the original instructions. These are not on the website. Easy you would think send Aeronaut an email. Ha first find their email address!!!!!!!!!!! After much searching of German translation I found an address and went for it. Got a fantastic reply from Thorsten of Aeronaut with a 4 page translation of the tips. Only problem is they are 5 pages long!!!!! Back we went. Thorsten admitted they had not produced the 5th page, their mistake, so he did me a translation. Really good service. I will hold on to them or if allowed will post them on the Forum for future users? Very nice model to build. Laser cut wood is lovely, so even I should be able make it look good. Have few questions coming up so will continue with this thread as I'm not really going to do Abilene blog.

Prob won't start building til after Xmas as technically it's my pressie from her indoors. Might do a blog but need to finish my speedline huntsman first. ๐ Watch this space

Yes, had a read through the other day. Am currently contacting some German suppliers who are selling at 249%u20AC which is about ยฃ170 so depending on shipping may be cheaper than UK. Best price in UK that I have found is ยฃ219 P&P. Awaiting to hear what that would be.

Thanks for that. I had seen Belairs website and did wonder about the starlet. I've just ordered some glue stands from them and saw the boat sets. Unfortunately won't be able to get to Warwick this year. Food for thought.

I have been building model boats for a few years now. I have always stuck with electric power . I hanker after learning to sail a r/c boat. Can anybody suggest a good starter yacht. I like building so a kit is an option. I like traditional boats rather than racing yachts but would consider anything. Have looked at Aeronaut who seem to to do a couple that may be suiteable. Anybody got any thoughts.
Ps never done plank on frame or built from plans. Would try prof but not sure about plans. Prefer a kit.

Just looked at the price with postage so will try another tack. I found standard plug with wires in the bottom of the box, never really noticed it before. Will try Daves idea of solder and sleeve.

I am building a Speedline Huntsman. It comes with a tiny brushless motor. There are three wires the size of hairs coming out it. The first half inch has a black finish which I presume is insulation. the rest is bare wire. The model is supplied with a little 3 pin plug to connect to the speed controller wires. If and its a big if I manage to solder the wires on to the pins how do I insulate them?

I have a micro servo that I am fitting in my Speedline Huntsman. The problem is the wires are not the usual red, black & white. they are brown, red & orange. Can anybody tell me the right corresponding colours so I can refit the right size plug ๐ญ

Try this link .Adrians Figures produce the old George Turner figures. They may need customising for what you want but paint and filler can create miracles ๐
