thanks for all the information very helpfull Doug i think you might have right idea as that picture is very much like it i suppose that chinese warlords when building ships stuck to the tried and tested but with added flair but whatever it is the model is very well put together i could not do it the detail is astonishing there are some figures on the decks and they are all hand carved i would like to have this sitting on my shelf once again thank you all for your comments

I have started on the Gulnare have removed the old gear box and motor i have had to remove one side of the paddle cover because the drive rod connected to the paddels was in two peices but the new one has to be one peice going through both paddles. Because this model was built a long time ago the glue that was used is breaking down and if I so much as touch some thing it falls off so I have had to reglue all the railings and deck fittings but its coming along slowly when it finished i will upload some photos Allesandro if you read this i will pm some pictures to you ok thanks again for everybodys help

Hi Alessandro the guy who built the craft passed away a few months ago and i bought it of his son if you want i can publish some more pictures in more detail i have spoken to very knoledgable chap at sussex models in worthing and he sugested using a geared motor at 50:1 he sugested a MFA como geared motor they are between 6 to 15 volts and they are not that expensive so if it still not right i might try two motors and run the paddles seperatly but i will see

hi all i have decided to take the sails and rigging off and start from scratch the information that has been provided is fantastic although a bit over my head so i am going to have a steep learning curve i will try and get a sail and rigging plan for the Cambria if its available as this is the first time i have attemted this previosly the only sail boats that i have built was a Victoria but this is a whole new ball game so if any one can tell me a good book to get that will help me understand all the different sails on my model i would appreciate it and i will look up the Ambo face book group i think my estimate for finishing this boat in the spring is now defunct and now going to be next christmas

hi thanks for the advice i had planned to attach some strong fishing line to the boat if anything happens at least i wont leave it on the lake bed also i have decided to make the leeboards operable i havent worked all out yet but either two separate servos or connect through sail lines i have seen one this morning that uses the sail control the chap who showed me is going to do a diagram for me to follow this is going to be a challenge but i will try my best the reason is i want the lee boards operating is i look at some thing like that and think why are they for show there must be a way to do it not to make it sail better but it will look good
