Its all new to me as well Neil, so far I've bought batteries that are too large to fit length wise in the boat so having to look at transverse fitment. Also putting in a new electric motor to replace the glow plug one it originally had. This has entailed changing the fitment angle to get it ti line up with the propshaft. However I'm slowly getting there and hope to have it on the water in the next two months.

It was made by my dad i'm guessing in the 50's, would they have had oilite bearings then? I'll have to look at taking the shaft out and checking.
Thanks

Does the propshaft need to be lubricated in some way? If so how do I go about acheiving this, is it just getting some oil into the shaft and letting it run down inside? Any help appreciated thanks.

I think my bulkheads must be spaced differently to yours as I cant fit them in lenghth ways without removing some of the bulkhead. They will fit accross the beam of the boat at the rear of the compartment behind the wheelhouse,or in the third compartment above the propshaft tube. I hadnt considered an across the boat fitment before. the central compartment has the motor in so they cant fit cross ways in this one.
Many Thanks for your help. Looking at your photos I am going to take some of your ideas for switch placements.

Thanks for all the advice. It looks like I have the wrong size batteries for the boat even though they were suggested by the shop. I'm happy to get replacements (I'll use these in another model) if anyone can suggest suitable size, power etc and where to buy them from.
That may be a better solution than cutting the bulkheads to get these to fit.

I'm looking at siting the batteries I have, but am not sure what is best.
The first two photos show where I think the batteries should go, one each side in the same comparment as the motor but this will mean cutting away part of the bulkhead to fit them in as they are too long. Will this weaken the structure too much? The third photo shows the only compartment the battery will fit in with no modifications. Woud this work or is it too far forward for the weight?
Any advice welcome.
Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I have some tools but have ordered a Dremel type micro tool to help with this refurb.
I did read about having to solder the capacitors and your link makes this nice and clear, thanks.
I'm sure there will be more questions!!

Thanks, yes it is that model. Someone has suggested shaving some wood away from below the motor to bring it more in line.
