Hello All
In the 1960s, my brother built an Aerokits 34" fireboat. It was originally powered by an OS30 marine engine. He lost Interest In the project and I took It over In the early 1980s. The OS30 was persuaded to come to life and we had one glorious run on a nearby lake but the engine was on Its last legs. I then replaced It with an OS40 4-stroke marine but this was clearly too much power and the boat rolled badly with the torque. Again, the boat went Into storage. Last year, I got It out again and stripped all the Internal combustion engine stuff (fuel tank, silencer etc)out of It and temporarily Installed a Graupner Speed 700 electric motor I acquired cheaply. Using 3 LiFEPO4 cells (9.6V), It runs extremely well. I now want to finish the boat off (the fittings were never attached).
Although the boat performs well with the Speed 700, It Is very noisy and draws a lot of current (I have watercooled the motor and ESC). I would like to switch to a brushless motor. I would also like to run the boat on 2 cell LiPo packs. Can anyone advise a suitable motor and propellor combination to suit the boat and 7.4V power?
Thanks.
Tony
