To Mturpin013; I am starting to work on a 42" that will handle the weight that you are looking for. Please contact me as to what type of hull. Mono, Cat, Deep Vee? I'm not certain if I can help but I'll try. Paul๐

Thank you very much for the tip. I was only concerned as to whether 1 layer of fiberglass would be sufficient do to the length of the boat and the speed I am seeking. The last thing I need is a hull to snap in two pieces at 40 mph. LOL

Good evening,
My name is Paul and I have taken on a 1 off 48" Swedish style speedboat designed by a friend of mine in Sweden. I've already built his first concept and it turned out extremely well. I will be doing a plug for the hull itself and leave most of the xps inside the boat as well. As I stated the hull is a planing hull design 48" in length with a 9" beam. My expectations to run up to approx. 40 - 45 mph. I am going to fiberglass it with epoxy and an epoxy cloth. There is so much contradiction out there; my head is spinning. I'm on a tight budget due that I am disabled and have limited funds. This is where I need help. I'm not certain how many layers of glass to use; the epoxy, etc., etc. If someone could help me; I would so much appreciate it. Thank you for your time.
