Would anyone have a spare copy of the parts list that comes with the Caldercraft Tyne tug Joffre kit? I have some broken parts that I would like to replace and the agents don't seem interested unless one can supply a part number.

Hi Jim,
This method of sail control looks ideal to me, so good in fact that surely there must be a downside but I can't see it, perhaps one of the more experienced members can. This would mean that only the rudder and an auxiliary prop motor if there was one would require RC.

I have some surface discrepancies on my gel coated pilot cutter hull. I believe there is some kind of product that can be used to rectify this but I don't know what it is.
Can any member suggest a suitable product?

Hi Jarvo,
Thanks for your reply, I had not considered the brittleness factor so I think I will do some experimenting with flexing. I intend to have deck beams and bulkheads so there shouldn't be very much flex but who knows.

Hi Scamp,
Thanks for your input, there are many different types of Gorilla glue here in Canada, they seem to have gone Gorilla crazy, which one have you been using?

Hi Ianh,
I was looking for an alternative to the two part epoxy due to the large quantities involved but many thanks for your input and I might yet fall back on the 24 hr epoxy.

I will soon be installing the deck beam shelf around the inside of my Pilot Cutter fiberglass hull and I am considering using one of the various brands of construction adhesive. This product seems to stick with great strength to a wide range of materials and has the advantages of being a one part adhesive with a slow setting time witch of course aids in positioning of the material being joined. Can anyone see a downside to this idea?
All advise appreciated.
Regards,
Paul

Many thanks for the quick reply and tip. I have one of these that I had forgotten about. My hull is very large but I could do the section profile in stages using this tool.

๐ Hull stand

This might seem to be a simple question to some but can anyone tell me how to make a hull support stand for a fibreglass hull. I need to take a moulding of the hull at two stations, distance apart not critical in order to mark and cut out the two supports. I don't know what to use to determine the hull shape at these two stations.
