    Summer Madness lll
Another older Lindbergh kit this time a early '50's Chris Craft Constellation. The older Lindbergh kits Are getting harder to find and some of the last ones the tooling was getting pretty worn. Nothing extreme or particularly exciting about the build, just a nice old Chris Craft.
    Indecision
This boat was recently purchased on-line from the grandson of the 1:1 boat in the photos. He built the boat from old photos and his memory. This is truly a "pond yacht" as the is no access to below deck for any radio control equipment. The plan is to keep the boat as shown but to up up grade the deck hardware and aft deck details. It is powered by a small electric motor running on one "C" cell battery. Since the first posting testing has shown the single "C" cell didn't have enough power to turn the prop while in the water. Experiments with other batteries has shown a combination of two 3.7v Li-po batteries in parallel should give up to one hour run time. in the interim I've added a few more photos of the update to the trim. You'll notice the companionway now has a door and hatchway. Unfortunately it blocks the view of the detailed interior the builder made. There are some additional items that have been added since these photos were taken including more detail to the control panel and a steaming light and stern light. I'm undecided about adding a small boat to the cabin top as a lifeboat/dingy. Time will tell...

Lindberg Chris Craft kit 1984 vintage. A special thank you to MACK RC, Harbor Models and my local hobby shop Empire Trains for all their help (Motor: MACK RC 5000) (ESC: MACK) (8/10)
    (Pleasure Craft) Masquerade
Masquerade is a Dean's Marine OΓΉlton Lady somewhat 'Americanized" (sorry) with the inclusion of a bow seat. Many of the deck fittings were plated "in-house" with a Caswell brass plating kit. The lighting is all LED with the exception of the searchlight. The second deck was fabricated from doll house flooring as is the helm seat. More photos will follow. (Motor: MFA 500) (ESC: Alleot 320A) (8/10)
    (Pleasure Craft) Hocus Pocus
A 1950's Fleetline Vagabond boat updated by the previous owner recently converted to RC with 2 "future" 50hp Evinrude Big Twin 50 motors. Vessel is steered buy individual motor speed rather than turning the motors. (Motor: (2) K&O 1957 Evinrude motors) (ESC: (2) Alloet 320 A) (5/10)
    (Pleasure Craft) Abracadabra
    A retro-stored 1950's vintage Fleetline boat with an original 1958 vintage K&O outboard recently converted to 2 channel RC. (Motor: K&O 1958 Johnson 35HP) (ESC: Alloet 320 A) (5/10)

Because it has an attachment to you Dad you should certainly build it. It's a nice kit to build, so take your time and enjoy it.

So sorry to hear about the kit's problems. Was really looking forward to seeing your build blog. Let's hope it doesn't show up on Ebay as an intact kit.

Great News - I'm guessing it's a Marx kit based on the molded-in color plastic. The good news on that front is the tooling wasn't worn out yet. Later on more of the detail on small parts was lost and there would be a lot of plastic flash that had to be trimmed away. At any rate it's a nice kit and will be a good looking model. Like the others, am looking forward to your build. πŸ‘

Contact PayPal and see what they can do. In the interim if you have a US tracking number ask your mail carrier if they can help. UPS can track it too FedEx is another story in itself. Good luck- BTW Ebay (US) has a couple of more listed...

You can probably use a full size servo if you mount it way over to one side. There isn't a lot of room between the underside of the aft deck and the hull.

I've not used any flags other than BECK ones, but have had some success in making them more realistic looking. First use a good fabric glue on the edges before trimming them. Glues made specifically for attaching lettering to T-shirts from a craft store works best. After the glue dries throughly rinse the flag a number of times in warm water. This seems to ta key some of the sizing (stiffness) out of the fabric. Them glue the thread into the fold at the leading edge of the flag. After the flag is attached to the flagstaff you can re-wet the flag and shape it a bit more if needed. The key is using a waterproof glue at the start. The more often the flag is "washed" the softer it gets. BTW - Cornwall Model Boats in the UK purchased all of the BECC "legacy" stock last year and their prices aren't bad.
Hope at least some of this helps

Too bad they're made of polymer. With some copper tubing, grain and sugar you could make a still. No need to wait for the pubs to reopen... Although I understand they have for the time being anyway. Cheers it's five o'clock somewhere.

Sorry to say it wasn't a kit build. I bought the boat from the grandson of the 1:1 owner. I was hoping one of our sailboat builders would know. I believe the part is called a fairlead, but I haven't been able to find a source. Thanks for the post and stay safe.

I'll start with the wood pieces in the hull first and the running gear. The superstructure may wait until the fall. Varnishing I can do indoors, spraying gets done outdoors.
On another note, what is the best way to cut the thin veneer? A scroll saw seems to be a poor choice.

K&Of motors are what got me into the model boats in the first place. The prices of some of them have gotten stupid expensive. A Mercury 100hp model will go for over a thousand dollars... Needless to say there aren't any in my collection.

The box is a bit worse for wear but the wood looks almost like new. Somewhere along the line a couple of K&Of motors got into the box too. I was surprised to see the hull wasn't drilled for the rudder. It may get twin rudders anyway. We'll see when the time comes.
