Thanks
I tried and don't seem to be getting anywhere.
I want to add photos to my blog not to the photo section.
Not sure if they are one in the same?
Color me confused. Dave ๐

About six weeks ago I bought an old model boat from a friend of mine.
He had aquired it in a bulk lot of old boat kits he purchased.
He asked me if any of the models interested me and I said yes. What's up with the Vosper model?
It looks like an interesting old boat.
Well we came to a deal and at out next pool run money was exchanged for an OLD box.
When I got home I opened the box and was pleasantly supprized with the model inside.
I don't think a lot of these were imported to the USA as I had never heard of the model before.
I set about finding more about the model and could see it was very popular in its
day. The info search is what led me to this web site. I found the RC conversion which had been done previously.
I have been thinking of a way to do a quick conversion on mine using as much of the stock boat as I could.
So what I have come up with is.
1-Keeping the stock motor and drive system.
2-Not removing the deck.
3-Accessing the rudders through a removeable hatch in the rear.
I know the props are too big, they are both the same direction, the Mighty Midget is under powered, and the rudders are small. ๐ญ
But I don't want to reinvent the wheel. ๐
Just add steering and motor control and make a stately cruising little boat.
Time will tell how I do.
So stay tuned. Dave

Here is a short video I did to test the belt drive.
I am using 7.4V and a rubber band for the belt.
I will test in in water when I get a proper sized O ring for the drive.

I was thinking of adding access hatches in the rear deck well.
I did not want to risk removing the deck and breaking something. Plus having done this in builds before if you don't get it sealed good you will end up underwater very fast. ๐ฏ Dave

I think I may adapt the if it ain't broke don't fix it saying with this conversion.
๐ So many times I have ripped out the stock motor and added a more powerful unit.
This time I think I will try the Mighty Midget and belt drive.
I powered it up with a rubber band for now and a two cell 7.4V battery and I was impressed with the speed the props were turning.
I have found that powering a motor made for dry cell batteries with a more modern battery capable of supplying more current the motor will deliver more power.
I have vet to try an in water test as I know the poor rubber band would not survive.
I plan to get a suitable size O ring to use for the drive.
It should be just a matter of adding a small ESC and servo for the rudders.
I don't want to cut the deck off so this may prove challenging.
Still in the thinking stage.
Can you smell the smoke. ๐ญ
