I you have the same tape I do. Which I think you do, its very sticky. Most hardware stores sell it. Aluminium foil tape for duct work.

I use a ruler edge and cut it to the width I like from very thin to wider. After it is applied I run the back of my finger nail over it. It smooths right out including kinks. Try not to have kinks of course ..

I was able to get her bottom paint and boot stripe on. Also added some trim to the deck edge (I use aluminium air duct tape). Slipped the running hardware in as well. Lots more to do...but looking more like "Orion"

Keep in mind everything is just dry fit right now. Still a lot to do.

I have given the transom her mahogany finish. Also did up the cockpit trim a bit. I built the fridge compartment (box sits back from cabin, fridge door inside.) I also made the helm and added the blue stripe to her. I think I will do the bottom paint (blue with red boot stripe) next.

Sorry for the delay in posts. I have been waiting for the weather to cooperate. I had to wait until I could resin her cabin to get going.

So.. I built the foredeck cap rail. Then covered it with mahogany. next I had to extend the stern as the hull I am using has a large overhang at the deck. The "Orion" had a flush stern. I also had to shorten the shafts and build in the rudder blocks. I resined the cabin and started the dry fit of the windscreen. One I was satisfied with the fit, as you will notice I then put a cheese paper ion the deck under the windscreen and fill the gaps with Famowood. When that is dry I can lift it off and cut the paper away and sand a bit to shape. Then I glue on the mahogany veneer. The fit is then close to perfect. I also printed the aft deck and side walls on vinyl to mimic the original build. Spending time painting today and taking out imperfections that only show uo after you paint. Hi everyone. Back with a new build. I figured that I would use the hull I have laying around (from a Graupner Commodore) to build the boat I enjoyed as a kid. Our family boat that was a kit boat built by my father in the early 60's in the Yukon. She is a Glen -L Marine design called the "Gung Ho' She is 28' in length. My fathers boat was powered by twin Grey Marine Fireball V8's. That is me as a boy sitting on her bow on the lakes in the Yukon. Then in Prince Rupert, BC at the yacht club. Following are her study drawings. Our boat was not build exactly the same you may notice. More to come of course. Will be working on setting the hull up for twin rudders, etc. I will resin the cabin when the weather allows. Then build the upper windscreen and roof. Of course work on the interior of the aft cockpit as well. cheers and welcome to 2025.
