New to me bulk carrier

Hello, I've been given this ship and would like to refit and refloat her. I don't have any info on the ship but I plan to out fit with new parts mostly 3d printed. Would anyone have any info on the ship or maybe the time lines she represents, (1960s ?). Thanks for any info

Slow going....

I found a small leak around the prop shaft and had to remove all the Ballast to get it repaired. I also sanded and spraied the haul with some new colours and gave the decks a new coat of paint. The real decision was what to do with this boat, I have designed and printed a crane system that I hope will alow me to drop a gopro camera and take picks 20-30 feet under water.
Next up i have to deisign and build a winch.

Looking awesome WW! Love the GoPro idea. Very interested in your progress as I hope to build one someday. Lost out on one 2 weeks ago on EBay, but hope springs eternal.
    Keep those pix coming!

Completed and out for sea trials

Here are some pics of the completed project and a link to a video of the underwater camera footage. Due to the waves the boat was bobbing around a lot, i will have to think of a way to absorb the up and down motion to get steadier footage.

You have come a long, long way with this model. It looks very stately. I like what you’ve created with this Neptune. It’s not a ski boat, but a proper sailing vessel.

Hi, as far as forward and aft movement i.e. bobbing up and down. It might help to redistribute the various heavy bits inside the model. If you distribute the weight to the extreme ends then you have a 'dumbell' effect as against all the weight in the centre which would be like a see saw.

Joshua Slocum when he reached his first stop said how badly the rocking motion was on his yacht. He was advised to re-stow his tinned food at the ends of the yacht and he reported that the yacht was much more comfortable to sail.

These are the extremes but follow the principle.

I did see a solution to side to side motion but it may not suit your model. This to have a tube probably at least 3+ cm wide with baffles across the inside with holes in and half fill it with water and have it across the central part of the boat and as high as possible without it causing a cap size. Then as the water tries to flow either way it is slowed down by the baffles. This acts to slow down the side to side motion.

    Good luck
