I’ve just found your blog, what a brilliant job you are doing, what a difference. The detail you are achieving is remarkable. How is the build coming along?

I inherited a Danish Fish Cutter (ancient Billings kit) in similar sorry state 🤔
A 'long term' restoration project! I have already renovated and modified Dad's old Taycol Target to go in it! Cheers Doug 😎

Hi there i use a heat gun and a scraper to strip the paint off in this case it was easy to do but in other cases it might not be easy to do. cliff

propellers specilly made

Hi im very happy with my new specilly made propellers 50mm for Solent Lifeboat .The propeller you get are 3/16 tread but what i need it is propeller with 3/16 hole .The propeller shaft is 3/16".I needit straight through 3/16" hole on the propeller that fittied on the 3/16 shaft and there was no tread on the shaft and there was no one else that can do the job what i was looking for so i called Raboesch to see can they help me and they said yes they can help me with the specilly order. it takes 3 weeks to make them 👍 cliff

    Hi Cliff
I hope the single grub screw will hold. The prop will create quite a strong flywheel effect.
    Good luck

Hi Dave M i did some research on the solent lifeboat i found out theres a MK1 and MK2 .the MK1 has the sliding doors and in side the cockpit is different to the MK2 .on the MK2 the doors open and the back cockpit is longer then the MK1 back cockpit .the numbers of the MK1 48004 to 48011 .the MK2 48014 to 48016 . I dont know about 48012 and 48013 I think there MK1 i think ? im not quite sure which one to go on ? cliff

    Hi cliff
Yes the the first 8 004 to 011 had sliding doors and a vertical steering wheel, 012 & 013 are not listed and the series ended with 014 to 016 with the hinged oval doors and seated steering positions.
They were all based on the MKII Oakley so this may be the basis for your designation.
48014 was Lady MacRobert based at Montrose 1972 to 1989
48015 was Hugh William Viscount Gough based at Stornoway 1973 to 1984 then Barra island 84 to 88 and finally Dunbar 88 to 93
    48016 was Douglas Currie based at Kirkwell 74 to 75, Macduff 75 to 84, Fraserburgh 85, Portpatrick 86 to 89, Workington 90 to 92.
To be correct any one of the last three would be OK
    Cheers
    Dave
