Hovercraft, is that a dirty word .............

Hi Steve,
UK model hovercraft specialist is
https://modelhovercraft.co.uk/
Website of Palaform mentioned by Dave.
They do a ranges of kits as Dave mentioned, but also a comprehensive range of parts including skirt material (NOT intended for the GF's miniskirt 😁)

You are definitely not out of line with a hovercraft. I for one more will be interested to follow your Build Blog as I have an H/C kit on the shelf waiting patiently to be built.
Look forward to seeing how you get on👍
Cheers, Doug 😎
PS Be patient on their website, it's incredibly SLOOOOOW. You practically have time to nip out to make a cuppa while it loads🤔
Young at heart 😉 Slightly older in other places.😊 Cheers Doug

Yes most are built from plans. Palaform do provide some kits so may be worth a look.

We have one or two Hovercraft in our club. Brian Clewes has been building them for many years and is an inspiration to others in the Club. I attach a few pics of some of his hovercraft and you can see one in action at

In our weed infested ponds they provide a way to sail (hover) at any time and are welcome additions to our boating fraternity.

I think a hovercraft is welcome (my opinion).
I'd love to see photos and maybe a video or two.
It sounds fun (or frustrating, depending on your experience with it).
So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Hovercraft, is that a dirty word .............

Hi All

I know this is a Boat forum, and i do own two boats, as in
an RAF tender, and a Dragon RG65 yacht (i kept quiet about and should put it in my harbour)

But what hovercraft? as my main hobby is RC planes, so a plane and a boat combined is one, Ish,
ive done the helicopter stuff, and its not for me,

Ive built a hovercraft, that does hover, and go forward, left and right, but more akin to my heli flying, as basically, out of control !!

But i have a burning desire, to build an SRN-1 and ive even bought the plans!

Have i now been out cast to the outer edge of humanity, and into the weeds ?

Just saying

regards

Steve
