Something I thought was good about the Windermere museum was the fact that one could borrow, presumably for a fee, a simple pond yacht to sail on their pond. They sold them of course, I think they were ยฃ50. Lots of interesting boats in the museum, well worth a visit, let's face it, what tourist attraction is cheap these days.
Cheers, Nerys.

Richard, True .. BUT the $1,500 airline ticket drives up the total cost for me in a hurry. Sigh Dave B

So far my collection resembles "The Island of Misfit Toys". I've picked up several boats that are old builds and have been neglected. I'm giving them the TLC they need, hoping to bring them back to their former glory. Once I get enough practice/ experience I intend to take on a full build.

Roy many thanks for the memory jogger, I too visited it in spring 2013. Well worth the visit, I was there for 6 short hours. But somehow I've lost my photos. Cheers Colin.

Would agree itโs not cheap but your ยฃ9 entry fee gives you a ticket that you can use for a year. Take into account that you donโt have to pay for parking if you visit the museum or use the cafe then itโs not too bad. It is a fascinating place to visit, well worth attending the conservation talks which take place daily (I think).

Hi Shipmates.
Windermere Boat Museum is not cheap to visit, as per most tourist traps, but interesting. Back in โโApril โ2012 I visited the place and have just found some pictures from that day, that may be if interest.
There are some early racing craft!
Regards Roy
