ive just purchased a Robbe Dusseldorf fire boat, would this be permitted to hit the water? or stay on its display stand?

I dont know if I can get it running fully yet, as still waiting for radio gear to arrive, but can try to make event with it

Hi, great photos, it all makes me wish all the more I'd made the effort to get there. Especially when in photos 0619 and 0028 there's a Victory industries fireboat (snuggled up next to a Fairy Swordsman? Blue Too) that has been detailed and appears to have been converted to RC. Does anyone know if it has been converted and if so who owns it?

That pic of the 2 boats in formation is REALLY nice, can you get a big one on the forum, I would like to print it out, and also use it as a background, very good shot, congrats to you Dad for that (even though we had to do approx 10 runs past to get the perfect shot! 😀

Hello Everyone in the Fireboat World, First and foremost may I say on behalf of all of us at Burton what a great day we all had, we had a few of our members who turn out for us that were missing due to other commitments, but a sterling job by Derrick and Dave looking after those on the steering course, to all who brought other older models to make up the display, thank you, pity my mate from the Colonies was not here to enjoy it but did we miss him? er yeh as he looked after me so well in 2008 at his place, I've sent some photos that I hope Stephen will publish some of on the sight, and I think the one of Paul Devlin with his trophy sums up the day, from someone who is almost petrified to go into a steering comp, just take a look at his face in this shot.
I would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Ken Daniels of the Bourneville club who is also Chairman of the MPBA for unexpectedly turning up and consented to present the prizes, also not forgetting the suprise trophy donated by John Blakemore of the Potteries MBC, to be donated to the best model Fireboat on display, this was a framed print of Fireboat 93 on trials, and duly judged by independant modellers that agreed Rob Henry's model be deemed the best one on show, don't think many would disagree with the choice.
From Me, Thank you all so much, and I suppose we had better initial in the same weekend for 2010.

HI Stephen, yes great day, but a shame that not as many Fireboats as last time, although this forum has never been busier! Strange!

I stole the first place, was a bit suprised when I won it, just goes to show what a great day it is (Thanks to Peter D for organising it), as I have only done one other steering comp 3 years ago, and, wait for it..... had no reversing esc on my boat!

well now.......1st 2nd and 3rd place trophies all went back to Wirral! 😀

Another great funday!

It was good to see lots of you turn up to the event, although not as many as previous years! This was a great pity as we really had excellent weather throughout the day. Apparently Lyle must have got his prayer mat out and sent us some Aussie weather!

The steering competition went well, even though my dad beat me! (Completely by fluke) which I'll have to live with for the next 12 months. Well done also to Paul Devlin who got first place and Rob Henry who won an award for the best model!

I hope to see more people in 2010 though, so mark it down in your dairies!

I don't actually organise the Funday so I wouldn't like to say one way or another. I've tried to get in touch with Pete Dimberline the organiser to see if I can get an answer from him.

If I were to guess though, you are able to bring other boats, but the ones we sore last time were still mainly Aerokit models. if I find out more I'll let you know.

Hi, can someone (an organiser?) of the Fireboat Funday please clarify what boats will be allowed to run?

When I last attended a couple of years ago, it was strictly Aerokit Fireboats, and any other Fireboats. I noticed by the photos of last years event that a number of other boats where on the water. if that is the case I will bring other boats, if not, Then I wont waste time preparing them!

Without knowing what current drain your motor & prop selection will draw its difficult to make a recomendation. if you can carry the weight I'd look at a sealed lead acid battery.
I would not get too hung up on period hardware as I would hate t consider anything but a modern speed control unit.

Finally managed to get a spare Futaba 27mgz M series set and with the Ariel.... now can finish my Aerokits 'Sea Commander',I'm hoping to finish it this summer, have got a Taycol 'METEOR' 6 volt motor, can anyone suggest the best battery set-up for this motor, and the boat, I don't want to use to modern a battery, am trying to keep it 1960's/1970's as befits the original boat...any help would be grateful...............Paul
