I'm still here, I think?

Hello Lew Z,
I've experienced something similar and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!
I was really scared back then . . .
But I wonder whether it would be possible to slow this down or even stop it with today's technology in the eye of the hurricane.
But here come the greens again with the claim that it is an interference with nature . . .
My thoughts are with you,
Your Michel-C.

Without power. Could be days or weeks. Half the house is flooded 2-3 inches of water on the hardwood floors that Ipersonally installed ten years ago, enough to ruin them. Ceilings look dry so I think the roof is OK. Still dark, 1:50 am. I could run my boats 360 degrees around my home. Lew

I'm still here, I think - too. The eye of hurricane Milton is about 100 miles away and it has been raining for about 12 hours. I could run my model boats up and down the street in front of my house.

First model to be disposed of, it's only a static display but eats up space and is hell to clean.
It's off to local auction today along with a load of other not needed stuff, trying to make space as workshop is stuffed with a lot of items from my sons garage which I have to dispose of for his widow and children.
I'm still driving 150+ miles a day on school runs and routine appointments.
Best wishes to everyone and thanks for your kind thoughts and wishes, it helps me get through this tough time.
Cheers Colin. 👍

Hi Colin. Im so sorry to hear of your mom's passing. I usually get on the board to post pics of build blogs and do the wordle, then I leave, so I have a lot of catching up to do, hence the late reply. I hope and pray life gets easier for you sir, and just remember you have a lot of people on this board pulling for you.

Hi Colin, condolences on the loss of your mother.
I'm happy every time you participate in the forum.
Whoever gets your models will be very lucky, I hope you treat them well. It is a real disappointment to have to get rid of the ship models due to lack of space.

Colin.... I hear you. My wife is wondering about the future if I was to pass as well. What to do with my models. Where they go etc. Of course, like you I will be around for a couple more decades. 😉 Been through the family stuff you are going through. It sure does take time. But, family is there for family first(with model boats a close second)

I'm still here, I think?

Good evening all, sorry I haven't been on for a while.
But as you may remember my life wasn't going to well this year, and just to make it worse my mum passed away earlier this month at the grand old age of 98.
I'm still not getting into the workshop because of my family issues.
While I have been caring for my wife and my family I have realised that I need to slim down my collection as sadly my grandson doesn't have room for all of them when I die.
After discussing this with him we think we will only be able to keep about 20 models.
Which means about 30 to dispose of, no rush I hope to be around for some time yet.
We will choose the ones to keep and then list the ones to dispose of, so if anyone is interested keep watching.
Keep sailing shipmates, don't worry if I'm not around, I am still here watching and occasionally reading.
Cheers Colin.

I fully agree with Hermank.
When I signed up to this forum, on AndyN's recommendation, I was immediately welcomed by two gentlemen mainly (as well as many other good guys), namely: ColinH and Scratchbuilder.
From the beginning, ColinH has always been generous with useful advice for me and others, I have always liked your wit.
There are adversities that are difficult to comment on but I had gotten used to his continuous interventions, always very welcome and interesting for me.
In these difficult conditions your posts on this site will be even more precious to me.

A little bit more news, I may not spend much time on here for some time to come. A big thank you to all for your messages which have helped me to carry on.
The latest updates on my situation, I'm still driving 154 miles each week day doing the morning and afternoon doing the school runs.
And the rest of my time is caring for my wife, she refuses to give in and tries to be as normal as possible even though the doctors have told us her illnesses are terminal giving her approximately 12 months maximum.
Don't worry about me, I don't give up hope easily. And my wife's resolve helps me cope with knowing what the future holds.
Once again thanks for your thoughts and prayers.
Cheers Colin.

Quick update dear friends, my wife is improving daily, started to eat and drink again 3 days ago. Consultant is very pleased with her progress and if she's okay after some final tests and another scan tomorrow then she will be allowed home but have a weekly review at hospital .
Now I might get some sleep tonight, as early start again tomorrow for grandchildren's school run.
Thank you all for your support during this trying time.
Hopefully get back to normal soon, whatever normal is.
Cheers and best wishes to you all, Colin.

Thanks dear friends and shipmates your words help me a great deal.
As for the new model, I think it is rigged all wrong.
Apparently the lady who bought it 27 years ago put string where she thought it should go as a lot of the rigging was missing.
As it is only a static model it didn't matter as a room dressing.
But I would like to get it rigged correctly as it is for my grandson's collection, he loves sailing boats.
And it helps take my mind off my problems to be doing something.
Cheers and best wishes to you all, regards Colin.

Finding little time to read through the posts at present, but will catch up soon I hope. Wife rushed into hospital again on Tuesday, not allowed food or drink, totally reliant on drips forall her needs.
Very upsetting with all that's happened recently.

Thanks for being there and posting about your wonderful models.

Colin...I dont know what to say. I do understand having your faith shaken, we lost our first child, Ian, at 3 months. He never made it home from Childrens. It took a while for me to reconcile that. I hope and pray you find your faith, or at the least some consolation from those on this board, and friends you have over there.
