Visually checking command parameters arriving at boat via UHF radio transmission - very little latency.

I think my previous post may have been confusing - apologies - the Jeti RC controller was simply included to show how a tablet could be supported.

There is no link between the smart phone / tablet and the radio control transmitter apart from being an ergonomic/useful support platform whilst in use.

The RC sticks would be used to control the throttle & rudder and the smart phone/tablet to control lights/sound/guns etc along with other accessories in a more intuitive and vastly cheaper way than some of the jab the stick X times or multi channel solutions.

My main intention was to show what could be achieved for less than the cost of a couple of fancy coffees.

Way out of my price bracket at over Β£1000, I'll stick with my clunky and old fashioned Β£45 system (Fly Sky 10 channel) it does all I need. However who knows what the future holds

Doug - I'll park this apsect of my HMS Rodney project here for now with one additional bit of information.

Cost of the hardware to provide infrastructure range 50-100m (excluding smart phone or tablet) from a little as Β£2.00

    Veery interestink Jonathan!
    Similar to 'Smart Home' Apps.
Although I'm not sure I want my fridge ordering up stuff while I'm not looking! Or 'chatting' with my microwave😠
I have a centralised RC controller for my lounge lighting, which doesn't have to send signals outside the houseπŸ˜‰ that's enough for me.
Don't have to do everything just because it's (possibly) possible😁

How's the actual shipbuilding getting on?
    Doug 😎

This was an experiment I did a while back using my iPhone to explore a modern concept of multi function RC control - the current HMS Rodney control concept is a twist on the same theme.
