"No different to going down to the lake with fellow members Doug, and having a chat if you are fortunate to be living in the same area"
Guess I forgot what that is like, since the Local Ostpark Lake club mysteriously vanished several years ago.☹️
Like I said I could see Skype as a useful extension to the PM function.👍
BTW Why are you and Ed nicking my Mugshot for your Home Page entries!?😮
Cheers, Doug 😎

No different to going down to the lake with fellow members Doug, and having a chat if you are fortunate to be living in the same area (which no way will I ever be able to do from down here). I don't think it will affect anything, as members will still want to show/share what they are building (otherwise what's the point of building?, it's half the fun!) and others picking up ideas and advice for their Models. Pretty much the same as PMs, just without the video. I'm sure no-one is going to mutiny or abandon ship, just modern (well old with Skype) technology being used as intended.😊
BTW, perhaps we could have a 'my worst mugshot' competition (I have a doozie lined up)😁-
and jeez you look old for 16😂

It was a lot of fun!
Getting to know some of the guys.
From the Model Boat Website was Great!
Skyping doesn't take away from the website!
It would actually increase togetherness.
With the other members!

Next best thing to model boat clubs and boating lakes right now!

I understand your fears but must say that this would never take the place of the current site goals. I think modelling only came up a few times but the potential to get some really hands on advice was real. You can show your friend the problem direct and solutions could be much easier. I think we all agree that this would not be a substitute for the boat website but could be a useful tool to help, especially during this lockdown when any social connectivity is severely restricted.
Give it a go Doug, you might enjoy it, and don’t forget, there is still a cross in the top right of the screen if you have had enough.
In the mean time, We will all be on the site as usual but do plan another Skype session in the future.
I will post my progress on both the Düsseldorf and Gato later. You cannot do that on Skype.😀

Altho I fully respect you’r views and concerns regarding Skype And the website.
I personally find that as i am unable to get out and about to be able to join or be a member of a model boat club.
And my wife dose not really share my enthusiasm for the hobby, model making on your own can get quite boring.
With that in mind the only way for me to have a good chat and have a laugh is to Skype.
If i was a member of a model boat club i would be able to chat and share ideas and still be a member of Stephen’s fantastic site like a lot of the members here on this site.
So for me being able to Skype is the next best thing.
It will not stop me enjoying Stephen’ excellent website and joining in with the banta and posting my crazy tinkering’s in my usual way.
Skyping with the other guys has given me that club feeling, and has given me that little bit of extra
enthusiasm to carry on with this most enjoyable hobby.
I would like to say A big Thank you to Stephen for creating a really fantastic website and to all the members that make it a pleasure for me to be involved.
Also thank you to the guys that has Skyped with me for that club feeling.

In fact I could well envisage it as a very useful alternative / extension to the site's PM function.
I just don't want to see it eroding the community spirit we've all helped to create on Stephen's excellent Forum platform.
On that philosophical note (B sharp!😁),
G'night All, Sleep tight, and don't let the bed bugs bite!!

That's what I was afraid of Pete🤔
Seriously though folks!
I have two reservations about this Skype group.
Of course no one, least of all me, (in the so called Free or Western World at least) can or should stop anyone Skypeing with anyone he wishes about whatever he wishes (within legal constraints😉).
However, in the context of the MB Site I have two concerns.
I'm not sure if you guys, drowning in your wave of enthusiasm, have properly thought this through as to where it could lead.
1 On a purely personal note; I could envisage spending even more time in front of the PC, instead of getting on with 'stuff', than I already do!
Often deep into the night, chatting with folk just going to bed and then others just waking up! Chap could lose the use of his legs like that🤔
2 More importantly; I fear this developing into a sort of 'elite group' happily Skypeing away swapping ideas and solutions while other MB members remain in the dark.
Ed wrote re joining the Skype group;
"And you can discus your current build!
All talk about anything related to the hobby!"
Seems to me to defeat the whole object (raison d’être!) of the site that Stephen created; namely to provide an open forum for like minded modellers to swap ideas and tech info, share experience and help provide solutions to problems members may run into.
Ed, you wrote "See how Skype helps to unite people!"
Isn't that exactly what Stephen's site has done and is still doing for us?
I'd hate to see it wither away if folks 'defect' to a Skype group.
Maybe I'm an old fuddy duddy, but that's my (current) humble opinion and I'm stuck with it😐
Let's just say I'm 'agnostic' on the subject; I remain to be convinced!
Cheers, Doug 😎
Pete; If you're bent on annoying my ugly phizog feel free to have a go at the attached passport photos of Convict #99😁
NB First person to call me 'Big Ears' gets busted to Noddy 2nd Class!😠

I am glad you enjoyed it, i did too.
We had a bit of a laugh and it is really nice to talk.
I would go so far as to say it dose make this lockdown a bit more enjoyable when you can have a good chat with other site members.

You can always arrange things with Ed (Figtree) too.
I am sure he will be looking forward to it.

Ed (Figtree) would also like to chat.

Not to worry it was only an idea,
Just incase someone would like to have a chat to relieve the lockdown blues or would just like someone to talk to as loneliness can really get people down.

Hi all, Martin and I have Skyped twice!
It was a lot of fun Skyping!
It was a real pleasure getting to know Martin!
As a matter of fact!
Why don't we setup a Skype group!
It's fairly easy to do!
And it's a lot of fun!
And you can discus your current build!
All talk about anything related to the hobby!
So, Who's in?

As we are all in lockdown how do you fancy having a chat on Skype.
I know we could have a slight problems with time zones.
I have Skyped another member from this site and it was a pleasure to meet and talk and have a good laugh.
It is so easy to sort out any build problems that you may have as you can see what you are talking about in real time.
Just an idea.
