Pictures from the 2022 Edina Model Yacht Club "Parade of Boats" day event.
Our club has a "Parade of Boats" day every June. Club members bring boats to display, and there are scheduled events throughout the day. A lot of locals bring their lawn chairs and spend the day enjoying our boats. The two floating lighthouses are used during our two "Lighthouse Day" events, which go until dark so we can display our boat lighting.

When I originally said I knew who owned the boat, I was mistaken. However, since then I have found out who owns it. At our club's recent annual "Dry Dock" luncheon, I asked him about the power plant. He informed me it is an engine from an old Sears Craftsman chainsaw. No wonder you didn't recognize it!

bought as a project a long time ago
I bought this yacht as a kit in Auckland New Zealand 1973 as a project i was in the merchant navy working for the New Zealand Shipping co. on the M.V. Ruahine after we had dropped our passengers in wellington we would move around the coast picking up cargo it has taken me a long time to get the yacht like this a lot of alterations including the R/C

glad that i could help i took the entire cabin off this evening as i had to fit a new sail servo and on turning the cabin section upside down spotted very small numbers on sections of the wood i then remembered all the years ago that the deck and cabin etc came all marked out so you just had to cut them out very easy the hull was very thin plastic type and was prone to cracking a few years ago i striped the lot down and pumped builders foam inside the hull manage to marsked of the servo and rudder section and it made the hull a lot firmer and was still light i plus i know that it won't sink

Nice calm day at Boundary Park to-day so no yachts but a nice large pleasure cruiser and a small skimmer with attached paraglider finally flying round the lake.

Harry uses a helper to launch the paraglider once the skimmer approaches sufficient speed. This was the first time a successful flight was achieved and the weather was just right with little or no wind. The drag from the paraglider is high and Harry intends to put a larger motor to increase the power. Whilst the wind a water level was low research indicates that the wind strength is strongest at about 6 - 10ft above water and that is where the paraglider is flying.

"NAIAD" is a Windermere Yacht designed by Herbert Crossley.
This model yacht is a first "scratch" built RC yacht belonging to "full size" sailor Chris Gay.
Naiad is seen here undergoing her maiden voyage at the Pavilion Gardens Buxton in the company of Grahams - "ELLEN" the Bristol Cutter.

- NerysFleet Admiral'Naiad' is an interesting concept of a very traditional design. I like her lines and it's good to see a good old gaff rigged boat being built today.
Likewise 'Emma', lovely old Bristol Pilot cutter, sailing well. You have some good boats at Buxton.

More changes, (not again you say😐) this time the original nozzle was re fitted, as I found that the very clever improvement I made, (a flasher, smaller, better fitting brass one), wasn't so clever after all (can't be brilliant all the time😁) and was restricting the flow. The performance was quite a bit better today (still not startling) and it seems obvious now that MORE POWER will be the next step (have a higher KV, 35 sized brushless coming on the sampan to try).
Had a chat with a long time expat UKer (ex British army) at the pond today, and he mentioned that he has an Aerokits fireboat 'kit' still in the box he hasn't started, (you might be able to hear the conversation) and that he was modelling in the 60s in the UK, running diesels in his boats. He was sailing a Kyosho Seawind today (as was the other guy),- and they look like a nice little yacht, and sail well.
