Yes congratulations on starting out building your model boat.
Please take a tip from me ! before you start glueing all thous bits and bobs together. Think of what engine size you are going to run her on & the length of the propshaft & speed controller you are going to use ! " When I build " All this go in first " when you have all the formers built in a skeleton shape. its easy that way to line up and fix in. Don't worry if you are missing parts You have the plans to help you in your build & ply wood can be bought at any diy or model shops .And remember we all here to help you ! Good luck A Prestney ๐ )

Hi" to all model boat builders. I thought I would add my new project to this fireboat website for all to see ! I bought this from fleabay as a total wreck. She is a rare Scratch built from a plan of a Walton Thames RAF ASRL launch at 36 inch long & 8 inch wide.took me approx 6 months to do the rebuild. Brush painted with 5 assorted colours with decals working lights ect.
Walton Thames is now running on a new Johnston speed 600 electric motor. 50 amp speed controller 45mm pitched propeller.A 6 volt at4.ah which gives good running time & good scale speed. Photos are taken at Eaton park Norwich England. Enjoy. ๐
My next project will be a 1950s Aerokits/Keilcraft Sea hornet. " So watch this space "

Hi" There. "Yes I think you have done a very good job there " I find that when you build one model you always get a good feeling at the finished resolt ! Then when you take the model down to the lake you always get a lot of attention from the public about the boat and then you will feel like building another & another .
mtbs look realy well in the water and go well too !
Are you going to fit the torpedo on the rear of your boat ?
A friend of mine built one of these .He Sail it at Sheringham Norfolk . Well done ! from A Prestney ๐

Hi" there, Remember the bigger the prop the harder the motor is working to turn it .
I use a 35mm prop on a johnson speed 600 with good speed
if you are going to use speed 850 to run that big boat then if I was you I would not go bigger the 40mm ๐ Albert

Hi" there,
Well one motor will pull your fireboat along at a reasonalble speed .
But I would not go below 850 size for that big hull .
can be bought for as little as ?27 from most model shops.
I have the smaller 35inch fireboat in which you can seen on this site , just up graded mine to a one motor a johnson speed 600. Also a 50 amp speed controller & 7.2 volt at 4600mh power pack battery. Very good speed thou but not much running time .
well good luck with yours . please let us know how you get on!!

I would go for a 35mm Prop good speed size anything bigger would put strain on the motors with less running time on the batteries . hope this helps Albert. ๐ ๐

Hi" There, Yes 60inch fireboat that is a big one !
just an idea' You could try two big mfa 850 motors with a 50 amp speed controller. two power packs At 8.4 or 9.2 volts and that will get that big hull out of the water with good speed .
or you could try a lipo battery set up with brushless motors , thou dont know much about these but been told they are very fast ! Hope this helps Albert ๐

Hi" there, " You have a very nice boat there "
I also own one like this. I try to keep the wieght from
the middle to the back of the boat. My set up is two 7.2 volt @4600mah side by side under the larger compartment lid and switch from one battery to the other. But keep them both in when sailling.! Also running on speed 600 motor. my set up keeps the rear in the water and keep the bow nicely out at speed . But also the boat should sit evenley on the water when it is not running.Try this Before you attempt to butcher your model . Good luck ๐ And a happy new year !

Hi" I thought I would put my new rebuild on for all to see ! I found this old Marblehead yacht as a wreck. She was gathering dust in an old reclaim ferniture wherehouse whilst we were on holiday last summer. Been told the yacht had been originaly scratch built in 1950s from a plan. She took me about half a year to rebuild. New parts as follow hiteck sail arm winch with 18lbs of torque. New futaba servo for the rudder. New sails & booms rigs & fittings. New deck made from plank strip wood & varnished. Also finished in painted Ivery white. She sail well in lite to strong winds At my local boating lake at Sheringham Norfolk .
works well on a Spekrum DX5E But can work on any other 2 channal transmitter .
Hope you enjoy the photos .

HI " I thought I would put my biggest model from my collection for all to look at ! HMS Avenger took approx 3 years to build . " She is a type 21 frigate at 1/64 scale . At 6 feet long . Scratch built on a fibreglass hull from plywood plastic card & metal parts . Works on a six channel futaba skysport .
Full working red & white leds on deck and cabin , lynxs helicopter with working rotor blades with landing lights. Working radars, bofor gun , A ships whooping sound . Runs on two speed 700 motors off a 12volt gel sell battery which give a good 1hr sailling time . Controlled by a 50 amp speed controller with two brass propshafts behind good size rudders which give a excellant turn .
My model HMS Avenger is a copy from the real ship in which took part in the Falklands war in 1982. Painted in the same grey with a green deck . She looks great on display or on the water . Avenger gets a lot of interest from the general public . please enjoy looking at the photos shown at Sheringham & Eaton park Norwich Norfolk .
" thank you .. A Prestney
