Hi Chum, no I do not as the servo tray strengthens the rear wall when stuck and the deck makes the hull rather rigid if I do strengthen it would just be a singular wooden strut on the bow.

Chugalone,
We launch the boat by hand, hull in the water first then superstructure on top. Sadly we have a small leak that produces about 20ml of water for 45 mins of running. Donโt know where itโs coming from but hopefully will be resolved. The carry box I the smallest it can possibly be but is still very big and awkward to carry!
Thanks,
Henry

๐ JJC Sound Unit troubles

Having some problems with a JJC Sound Unit. Usually starts okay but when a different channel is used (mostly the steering) there is major interference and sometimes it cuts the unit off entirely. Is it best to mend it somehow or just unplug the system to prevent something happening.
See attached video.
Thanks

๐ Rudder & Propshaft Drilling

Today we have drilled out the holes for both Propshaft and rudder, 6 and 4mm respectively. It is best to drill around 0.5mm more than specified in my opinion, as filing of that amount is otherwise necessary.
Attached are photos of drilling and the finished product with rudder and shaft loosely installed.
I also recommend drilling a small pilot hole, of 2 or 3 mm to ensure the larger drill bit drills straight and accurately.
The next stage is cutting out the deck ( the hatched areas which I have circled in the image). These will be the superstructure and servo access points.

RodC, unsure but the battery is around 600g as it is a 6v Lead Acid as per Kricks recommendation.

MartinS, Is there a flysky that can have spring centered throttle stick? Was looking at the FT ST 8 & 16 but they are not springed so sadly not an option. Radio link may be an option.

Today we started the project by constructing the stand, it is made out of Laser cut plywood and is therefore a very precise cut. Once the parts were removed we sanded down and glued together. It forms a well constructed and sturdy stand for the boat.
Not an exciting start, but Step 0 is always required!

Hi, I need to get an 8 channel transmitter for a Krick Paula, it will
Need to be able to operate the crane (up and down), winch ( out and in) and some lights. Was looking at the Microzone 8B, donโt know if itโs any good however?
In short Iโm looking for any recommendations or advice on to which transmitter may be best and if the microzone could do what I need it to do.

Thanks very much, it might be a project that is putting to the side for now as I have a Kit for a Krick Paula to do for the New Year and shortly. I will be documenting this as I build it and then after thatโs done I may alter the Crash Tender, it depends whether I should or not, I donโt know whether to keep as is ( because I know it doesnโt leak and works ) or change some stuff and have the risk of further leaks.

Hi Robbob,
The leak has now been solved and it was identified to have been coming in through a very small crack that opened as the boat vibrates, this has now been sealed and the leak has been fixed.
Sadly the prop shaft cannot be removed without tearing out most of the hull where the shaft is, this is because when we purchased the boat the builder had installed the shaft in a way that is is impossible to remove without having to replace 1/4 of the hull.
We purchased the boat as a project that needed a lot of work so itโs not too perfect, just working order. Adjusting the angle of the motor and couplings is also not possible as to remove the motor block the internal wall itโs next to would need to be removed
, this is epoxied onto the hull walls and would cause damaged if removed.
So all in all there is not much that can be done but what is currently there.
The red unit is, as far as we can work out, a gearbox or a unit to adjust the length of the shaft by a few mm. It has a servo mount on it so our thinking is you could control a servo that would change the gearbox to differ the speed. This is what myself and the boat club I go to presumes.
Thanks.

Battery is currently located in the forward cabin where we have made a slot for it to sit nice and snug inside.

Yes I shall attach one, we are still fiddling with weight distribution and need to get more lead for the rear. Should plane nicely once done.
The other possible battery location is the receiver compartment as pictured, we would have to install a battery stand.
Ignore the sponge!

I love that modellers,
Experienced or not, can talk, ask questions and document their experiences and struggles.
I shall definitely be documenting my new build arriving soon, a Krick Paula.

She was running at around 3/4 throttle. The battery I have in her is a 12v Lead Acid, gives plenty of run time and is easy to use and charge.

What battery did she have? Thinking of building one and need to know what is best to buy.
Thanks
